This romantic tour in Venice will lead you to discover, on board a characteristic gondola, some of the lesser known and unfamiliar areas of one of the most enchanting cities in the world: Venice.

Our poetic tour of Venice on a gondola will let you discover – starting from the Basilica of Health on the Canal Grande - the most intimate and suggestive atmosphere of the smaller canals around the La Fenice Theatre. The tour will last approximately 35 minutes and aims at showing you some of the best architectural masterpieces in Venice and a long sequence of bridges and views from the an unusual perspective on board a typical Venice gondola.

The tour will start from the gondola station at Dogana Calle Vallaresso, opposite the famous Harry’s Bar.
This renowned bar, declared in 2001 as part of the national heritage by the Heritage Conservation Minister, is located to the side of the Canal Grande, a few steps from St Mark’s Square. From its opening the bar has been frequented by many famous people such as George Braque, Truman Capote, Charlie Chaplin, Peggy Guggenheim, Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway, who has also mentioned the Harry’s Bar in one of his books. Its founder Giuseppe Cipriani has also invented for the bar’s guests, numerous original recipes, such as the Bellini cocktail and carpaccio.

During this gondola Venice tour you will admire from the outside the famous Basilica of Health, which stands our in the beautiful panorama between St Mark’s basin and the Canal Grande.

Built on a design by Baldassera Longhena, a renowned architect and sculptor of the Venice Republic, the basilica offers different perspectives depending on the point of observation. Considered one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in Venice, the Basilica was built as a result of a votive offering to the Madonna on behalf of the Venice inhabitants for the city’s deliverance from the pestilence of the 17th century.

As you leave the Canal Grande you will enter into the maze of suggestive smaller canals, where you can admire unusual glimpses of a lesser known Venice whilst being lulled by the gentle rocking of the gondola.

You will then arrive at the most famous theatre in Venice: La Fenice. Located in the St Mark district, La Fenice is the main opera house in Venice, unfortunately destroyed by fires on several occasions and subsequently rebuilt.
Its construction dates back to 1790, on a design of Giannantonio Selva. During the 19th century this famous theatre in Venice has hosted many openings from great Italian authors, such Rossini, Bellini, Verdi and Donizetti.

You will then be taken back to the gondola station at Dogana di Calle Vallaresso.

Treat yourself to the romantic atmospheres of Venice on a gondola: you will enjoy unique moments and savour an unforgettable experience on board a gondola - one of Venice’s symbols.
