For generations the Bonazzi family have occupied themselves with vine cultivation and wine production. The Fratelli Bonazzi F.lli I.M.A. winery is a family-run concern which produces classic vintage wines. The winery and vineyard are located in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area, from which come the prized Valpollicella wines.

The winery, firmly rooted in the age-old traditions of winemaking, also utilizes the latest techonological advances to enhance the quality of its wines.

The vineyards of the Bonazzi winery lie on the hills of the Valpollicella Classico, where the soil is chalky and contains large tufa deposits. Grapes are harvested by hand and stored in wooden containers.

Where the past meets the present, the Bonazzi winery produces a range of three classic wines, linked to the proud tradition of the land and its people: Recioto della Valpolicella Classico, a refined Amarone Valpolicella Classico and the Valpolicella Classico. A large part of the spirirt of the area resides in these three vintages, which perfectly compliment the local food specialities, from red meats and game to fruit and desserts. Tasting the Valpolicella wines is a priceless experience – come for a winetasting of  the Recioto della Valpolicella Classico, Amarone Valpolicella Classico and Valpolicella Classico and get a real taste of the teritory.

History

The Russian grand Duchess Anastasia lived with our family in Corte Bonazzi from October 1941 to June 1943, using her husband's name Lombard. Owing to the war, and her own personal losses of her entire family (Tsar Nicholas II, her mother and four brothers and sisters) as well as her political status and hopes, the Duchess lost her smile as well. Invited to dine with the family, she was served her favourite wine, Recioto Bianco (now a Veronese passito). This was the only thing left to make her smile again. Our 'Granduchessa' wine is named in her tender memory.
