The gamebook
The gamebook is an essential tool for the whaiwhai experience. It is a special notebook with stories that will lead you through the places where your search will unfold. But the stories are indecipherable because they are jumbled. To be able to read them, you will need to get the codes that you will be sent via SMS. With the codes, you will be able to rearrange the pages and read what is written in order to learn the details about the place where your discovery will transpire.
To continue on your hunt, you will have to solve puzzles and send the solutions via SMS to the number indicated in your gamebook. (The cost of each SMS is as normally charged by your telephone operator).
The gamebook contains a lot of stories, many more than you’ll be able to read if you only play once.
Each time you return to the city where you’ve played whaiwhai, you can relive the experience. You can use the gamebook up to three times. In each game you’ll see different places – the game system remembers which routes you’ve traveled and lets you read new stories and visit new places each time you play. At the back of the notebook you’ll find a numerical code that you’ll need to copy into a text message to start the game. This code is necessary in order to keep track of the games you complete with that notebook. Here’s what the whaiwhai gamebook looks like:

You can also get a more high-tech whaiwhai experience for more captivating and innovative interaction. To do this, you can purchase a code that lets you play directly on your iPhone (this service will soon be available on other smartphone models). This purchase can be made on the web or directly by iPhone. You can then get the whaiwhai experience without having to buy a gamebook – all the contents you need to play will be downloaded onto your phone. Once you read the stories, you can solve the puzzles directly through the iPhone’s web platform. An iPhone whaiwhai experience can last for just the time it takes to play one game, for three days, or for a week. You can purchase different codes depending on how much time you want to spend with whaiwhai. Each time you start a new game, you will be taken to a new and different place
