Casa Baseggio

Description

Located  in the  historical centre, Casabaseggio is situated in the wing of an ancient building which was part, already in 1300, of a Franciscan convent.
The spacious double (or twin) rooms are available to  the guests with ensuite bathroom or with assigned bathroom.  
The rooms are elegantly furnished and provided with all the modern comforts ( TV, air conditioner, Internet, fridge, hair-dryer, sound-proofing, radiator heating ).
It’s possible to add  one bed for babies and children up to for years old  who are lodged free of charge.
Breakfast, included in the price, is served by Marco and Alessandra from  8.30 to  10.30  on the bed room or, by choice, on the terrace.
Breakfast is typically continental, with some Venetian speciality.

From the terrace where breakfast is served is possible to enjoy the peace of the garden which was constituting an ancient cloister and is also possible to notice through the cypresses the very ancient Abbey Of The Mercy (Abbazia della Misericordia).
The house is adjacent the Garden of  The Abbey, one of the quietest and most striking of Venice.
The very near street  Fondamenta della Misericordia  is well known in town for the numerous places  where is possible to appreciate Venetian or ethnic specialities, and  listen to music in  the evening. Not far you can find the ancient Hebrew ghetto with its seven synagogues, the Madonna's of the orchard Church and Gold house (Chiesa della Madonna dell’Orto e Ca’ d’Oro).
In a  few minutes is possible to cross the Big Canal with a gondola ("ferryboat"), for only 50 cents, and arrive to the historical Rialto market, with all its Venetian specialities (fish, vegetables of the islands, flowers) very much frequented by Venetians and tourists. From there, in a few minutes, you arrive to Piazza S. Marco.
