In the beautiful province of Treviso, the Sarmede festival for the Children's Book Illustration Exhibition returns. Sarmede - il paese delle fiabe dedicates its 31st edition of the Tales from Mexico.

From 26 October 2013 to 19 January 2014, le immagini della fantasia 2013 offer a full calendar of events in Treviso, Italy suitable for young and old, amateurs and professionals with workshops, exhibitions, discussions and illustration courses for children.

Starting from an idea of Stepan Zavřel - a known illustrator from Prague - in 1982, the children's illustration exhibition in Saramede, Treviso, Italy immediately stood out for an extensive program at an international level: new forms of artistic expression, original productions, aesthetics and narrative have significantly contributed to the success of the Treviso festival. In just a few years it has become one of the most important events in Treviso.

Stepan Zavřel, creator of the Saramede Illustration School, was also the promoter of the tradition of mural paintings: today this small town in the province of Treviso has a unique physiognomy, with buildings decorated by unique works of art - created either by Stepan Zavřel or by many other artists - and an atmosphere somewhere between dream and reality.

In addition to offering a broad overview of contemporary illustrations La casa della fantasia Sarmede festival aims to promote reading and the pedagogical value of books. Since the early 90's, the Children's Book Illustration Exhibition has also become a great touring event which has already made stops in many cities including Paris, Lisbon, Madrid, Istanbul and Venice.

The Children's Book Illustration Exhibition 2013 will be dedicated to Mexico, where bright colours and ancient legends come to life. Ghosts, beautiful bats, Mother Earth and feathered serpents invade le Immagini della fantasia in Saramede, on a trip overseas to discover fascinating Mayan and Aztec stories and their fantastic illustrations.

The Sarmede illustration festival 2013 program will present, along with the main theme of Tales from Mexico, an international overview on children's illustrations: visitors can admire more than three hundred illustrations and books for which they were created.

The children's illustration exhibition will again present at La Casa della Fantasia 2013 a multifunctional space to host courses and an illustration workshop for children, as well as events, exhibitions and meetings.

Guest of honour at the 31st Le Immagini della Fantasia Saramede festival will be Gabriel Pacheco, illustrator. Gabriel Pacheco artist from Mexico will create a mural painting in La Casa della Fantasia and run a workshop of illustration at the Saramede International School.
