One of the most anticipated cycling Dolomites marathons is almost upon us! The Dolomiti Classic, 2013 is scheduled for 8 September.

The Dolomiti classic in Arraba is an exciting Dolomites cycling race which includes climbs, descents and fabulous scenery and is considered one of the most anticipated Arabba events in summer 2013!Now in its 8th edition, the famous Gran Fondo Dolomiti Classic attracts athletes, amateurs and cycling tourists from all over the world for one of the most challenging and fascinating Dolomites cycling races.

As usual, the Dolomiti Classic race offers a highly exciting path that combines sports, nature and adrenalin in the sceneries of the upper Agordo area.

The Dolomiti Classic Gran Fondo follows a 130 km route crossing over the Duran, Staulanza, Giau and Falzarego passes. An easier solution offers a middle distance track of 80 km which crosses the Giau and Falzarego passes. Both of the Dolomiti Classic routes start and finish in the beautiful resort of Arabba in the Dolomites, Italy.

To assist the participants in the Dolomiti cycling - maratona and middle distance - there will be a safety enforcement team and civil defence volunteers, working with four mobile units and several refreshment points and technical assistance to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the Dolomites cycling event.

After the start of the Dolomiti Classic tmc Arabba the paths will split: the middle-distance immediately begins with a difficult climb to the Giau Pass, where cyclists are rewarded by the landscapes of the descent to Cortina and can admire the Averau and Nuvolau groups. In Pocol the Dolomites cycling race climbs back towards the Falzarego Pass - admiring the Cinque Torri to the left and Lagazuoi on the right hand side- before descending towards Arabba with the striking Andraz Castle on the right.

Athletes of the real route of the Dolomiti Classic tmc, at the division of the two routes, will proceed towards Alleghe, Cencenighe and Agordo before tackling the ascent to Duran pass; followed by the descent into the Val di Zoldo, the Forcella Staulanza, Selva Cadore and then up to the Passo Giau. At this point in the race, the athletes of the Arabba Dolomiti marathon 2013 do not have to do anything but face the final obstacle, the Falzarego Pass, before returning to Arabba.

On the day of the granfondo numerous Dolomites events will take place, such as the Palagusto where you will be able to enjoy typical flavours of the Dolomites, local specialties and wines in Arabba - Dolomites.
