Goose Race

The 11th edition of the traditional entertainment in which the entire population of Mirano take part in the ancient Goose Race. Centred around the main square of Mirano the event increases its range of attractions every year, from opportunities to sample local delicacies (using goose meat) to art exhibitions (with geese as the main subject) and the traditional market, where time seems to have stood still, and which offers (goose-based) souvenirs. Also adding to the atmosphere will be musicians, jugglers, fire-eaters and others all in antique costume. This years programme begins on Saturday at 3.30p.m. with the official opening of the fair (free entrance 4p.m. beginning of street theatre, childrens Goose Race, display of live geese, and at 6p.m. the election of Miss Goose, judged by the public from the best geese on display.

Sundays programme begins at 9.30a.m. with the Ocaria, or market and street theatre, 11a.m. the pre-race trials to decide running order, culminating at 3p.m. with the grand Race itself (entrance by ticket only).
