500 Years of Palladio

An exhibition which celebrates the 500th anniversary of the birth of Andrea della Gondola, better known to the world as Palladio. Starting in his adopted city amidst his greatest works the exhibtion moves on to London and the US. More than 200 original works, including 78 signed designs, 40 paintings, as well as books, manuscripts, maps, coins, architectural models and much more besides, will be on display, attempting to delineate in the most detailed possible way more than 40 years of the life of this genius who revolutionised architecture through his ever-present eye on the classical epoch. Each piece on display has arrived through the diligent researches of an international team of experts who have combed almost 100 museums and libraries throughout Europe to reconstruct the life, times and art of Andrea Palladio in the fullest manner, designed to appeal to all from experts to the simply curious. Ten halls of the magnificent palazzo will be dedicated to the show, which also includes video and computer-generated graphics. The exhibition is divided into three thematic sections: The career of an architectual genius, Inside the mind of Palladio and An eternal contemporary.
