54th Magnalonga Valpolicella 2013 - Festival of the Classic Wines of Valpolicella and Recioto

From 26 April to 5 May one of the biggest wine events Italy of Valpolicella wine returns, the Festival of Magnalonga Valpolicella, 2013. The festa vini Valpolicella will include many events to celebrate with style and tradition the most renowned wine area of the province of Verona. Amongst the events are the famous Valpolicella and Magnalonga Verona Bike excursion between the Villas and Vineyards.

Now in its 54th edition, the Festa dei Vini Classici Valpolicella and Recioto offers numerous cultural and gastronomic events dedicated to the discovery of Valpolicella, between typical products and splendid natural scenery.

Included in the Verona wine events of Valpolicella 2013 are the historic event of Magnalonga in Pedemonte, the Bike excursion between the Villas and Vineyards and the Palio of the barrels as well as food stands offering traditional cuisine accompanied by fine wines from Valpolicella.

Sunday 28 April will be dedicated to Magnalogna of Verona 2013, a non-competitive walk of about 10 km. The Magnalonga in Valpolicella is a fascinating journey through the natural and artistic beauty of this precious wine area of the Veneto region. Starting in San Rocco Square in Pedemonte, the route offers several stages dedicated to the flavours and traditions of the area, with moments of musical and folkloric entertainment and food tasting stalls with winemakers, restaurateurs and sommeliers. In addition to the typical products of the area of Verona, the participants in the Magnalonga Valpolicella 2013 can taste the beer of Ludlow made in the twinned city of San Pietro in Cariano.

In addition to Magnalonga, the Festa Vini Classici Valpolicella offers the opportunity to witness a fascinating historical re-enactment, the Palio of the barrels, which on Wednesday 1 May will stage the traditional battle between coopers of the Renaissance, divided in teams and districts, the coopers will compete pushing big and heavy wooden barrels of 500 litres.

And finally, on Sunday 5 May 2013, the full calendar of wine events in Valpolicella will stage the Bike excursion between the picturesque Villas and Vineyards. A non-competitive route to admire the main places of interest in architectural and landscape of Valpolicella with a route of about 20 km, flat or slightly uphill, and small final buffet open to all participants.
