"Neo Realism - The new image in Italy 1932-1960" photos and visual evidence in a major exhibition in Verona

From Saturday, September 29 a fascinating photo exhibition in Verona, at the Scavi Scaligeri to propose a new interpretation of the birth of Italian Neo Realism and explore the role of neo realism in photography in relation to other forms of communication.

Entitled "Neo Realism - The new image in Italy 1932-1960", the exhibition will be hosted at the prestigious Centro Internazionale di Fotografia Scavi Scaligeri in Verona and will present a series of evocative images, including magazines, catalogues and neo realism in photography.

After the great success of the exhibition of Robert Capa, another exceptional Verona photography exhibition! 224 images, original photographic prints juxtaposed to the most important means of dissemination such as magazines, periodicals and catalogues of exhibitions, for an evocative display divided into five sections to analyse the most significant aspects of Italian neo realist photography images and the period in which they were taken: Realism in the fascist era, Poverty and reconstruction; Ethnological Survey; Photojournalism and magazines; Between Art and Document.

Until 27 January 2013, a fascinating insight into the photographic Italian Neorealism in Verona, a photographic exhibition at the Centro Internazionale Scavi Scaligeri, the prestigious international centre of photography in the heart of the historic centre of Verona.

Curated by Enrica Vigan, one of the most fascinating photo exhibitions in Italy 2012: thanks to the photos of over 75 authors, it aims at providing a new perspective on the roots of neo-realism, which should be traced back to the fascist era during which, thanks to the massive use of instruments related to visual communication, the groundwork for this future current expression was laid.

A photographic exhibition at the Centro Internazionale Scavi Scaligeri in Verona to discover one of the most extraordinary artistic seasons of the last century, presenting an interesting comparison between the main forms of expression that characterized the Italian Neorealism: photography, cinema and literature. Through old catalogues of exhibitions, illustrations, film posters and photos of Neorealism, and a background of the most exciting scenes of the most famous film of this famous current, a group exhibition to try to explain the photograph within the context of neo-realist, stressing its role compared with other forms of expression. Valuable post-war visual evidence that brings to life one of the most difficult periods in the history of Italy.
