Running since 1981, the 2010 Veneto Opera Summer Festival offers a two month long special edition that will take place in 33 cities with 400 evening events on stages in castles, parks, mansions, squares, abbeys, cloisters and museums. Combining avant-garde, tradition, showcasing artists and productions of international leverage, the events will cross each and every artistic expression: dance, contemporary theatre, classic music, opera, jazz and cinema.All the events will also be the opportunity to trace back the history of the festival, to celebrate its achievements and reflect on the constant evolution over the past thirty years that has made it one of the most awaited for, prolific and interesting moments of the Veneto summer and admired everywhere. A celebration, by its nature, can also be the opportunity to find new directions and challenges. For sure there will be the boldness to put together the most innovative artistic with the warmth of tradition, as to draw a single path that doesnt accept fences, but rather a solid bond in the name of art and all its expressions: here is Operaestate offering previews and original creations, always in exceptional venues and often avoid of any convention. Over the years this festival has become a real trait dunion between establishments and interested parties at a local, national and international level. The leading town of the festival that will take place between June 30th and September 4th 2010 is again Bassano del Grappa, from where the festival will spread to the whole territory. The main sections are: B.MOTION (August/September) dedicated to contemporary theatre and dance expressions; DANCE, with five choreographers representing an equal number of dance styles (neoclassic, modern-dance, contemporary, flamenco and Italian choreography). The vocation to re-invent urban spaces and transform them into unusual stages will take shape in the project Body Architectures. The final part of this section, Dancing in the Castle, joins the classic and contemporary within the evocative surroundings of the Medioeval Romeo Castle in Montecchio Maggiore; THEATRE will host prominent artists such as Giorgio Albertazzi and Marco Paolini, amongst many others. There will be many more exhibitions inside Shakespeare Inspirations and Artistic Reflections. And also renewed contents for Flavours and theatre when words and succulent tasting of local produces will be put together. MUSICA will stage prominent orchestras and solo artists. Amongst the pivotal concerts we must not neglect to mention the Orchestra of the Fenice Theatre in Venice and the sensational violinist Uto Ughi with the Belgrade Philarmonic Orchestra. As in every edition jazz will also take centre stage in Bassano with several dates inside Veneto Jazz Festival. Last but not least CINEMA will take place inside eight splendid town parks especially transformed for the occasion into unique open-air cinemas.
