Primavera of Prosecco 2011

From 26 February 2011 to 19 June 2011

This is the 16th edition of the most important series of food and wine events in Veneto and amongst the major ones in Italy. One only needs remember that it was here when the first Italian wine route was established in 1966, at the time aptly named Route of White Wine, but later renamed Route of Prosecco and White Wines of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Hills. We are in the High March of Treviso, precisely on the Alpine foothills north of Treviso and the event we are referring to can only be the Primavera of Prosecco and its renowned list of 17 shows of food and wine taking place in the hamlets between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano. What is being promoted is not only the flavours of unique nectars such as Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg, Valdobbiadene Superiore of Cartizze Docg, Verdiso Igt, Refrontolo Passito Doc, Torchiato of Fregona Doc and of Colli of Conegliano white and red Doc, but also of such produces as radicchio, cheeses, olive oil, honey and salami, which should be never considered in isolation from the beauty of the surrounding area and its history. The tasting of these delicacies opens up the doors of a century-long history made up of ancient walled monasteries and villas surrounded by the lushest nature and vineyards trained by the hands of the local growers and nurtured to produce the nourishing grapes known across the world. The Primavera of Prosecco 2011 is, therefore, more than a simple road journey, but rather an experience suitable for all family members and the occasion to enjoy the oncoming spring and summer when fine weather reigns undisputed. The beginning of this event occurs a few weeks before the arrival of spring, whilst its end occurs at the onset of summer. The opening is on 26th February in Vidor and the closing on 19th June in Serravalle of Vittorio Veneto. Come and discover the local products and bring your family to visit places such as Sarmede, where every year the international exhibition of children illustrations takes place, or the archaeological park of Livelet, if you want to understand and see what life was like in the primitive age. Once arrived in the High March of Treviso there are plenty of places to visit and arts treasures to admire. There are also many collateral sports, arts and entertainment events, amongst them: Prosecchissima, Treviso Marathon, Canevando and Sbecotando. Just after the end of the event - on 24th June - within the Gran Prize Primavera of Prosecco and Selezione Garantito 2011 events, prizes will be given, for the 15th year running, to the best wines of the exhibition at the new Enoteca Veneta in Conegliano.
