On 21 April 2013 one of the most followed sporting events in Padua: the Padova Marathon 2013 returns, a day devoted entirely to those who love sports and fun.

The S. Antonio Marathon 2013 celebrates the 14th edition. The Marathon, Italy 2013 is an event that has taken a leading role among the national and international running events in Padova in just a few years.

The Maratona di Padova departs from Campodarsego and finishes in Prato della Valle. The San Antonio Marathon 2013 follows in some parts the route taken by St. Antonio shortly before his death.

Founded in 2000 to celebrate the Jubilee, the San Antonio Marathon in Padova attracts athletes from all over the world every year, thus enriching the calendar of major sporting events in Italy. One of the best events in Padova of great resonance and prestige.

From start to finish the Padua Marathon winds through the beautiful province of the Venetian capital, a fast and flat track closed to traffic for the entire duration of the event in Padua, Italy. Passing through San Giorgio delle Pertiche, Camposampiero, Massanzago, Borgoricco and Reschigliano, the San Antonio Marathon and half Marathon runs along the so-called 'Roman grid' allowing athletes to admire the lesser known areas of this beautiful Italian region.

The traditional Padova Marathon, of 42,195 km, starts Campodarsego and finishes in in Prato della Valle. Since 2009 it has been accompanied by a Padua half marathon for the classic distance of 21.097 km, which involved thousands of fans. Starting in Camposampiero, the Padova half marathon route always ends in Prato della Valle.

The Padova, Italy Marathon also welcomes Paralympic athletes and is included in the official calendar of the International Paralympic Committee. This year San Antonio Marathon in April is hoping to break the record of 200 entries recorded in the 2012 edition.Marathons in Italy, and in particular the Marathon in Padua 2013 offers a fascinating journey which combines history and nature, first along the streets of the province and then in the historic centre, offering athletes some of the most beautiful views of the city such as Piazza dei Signori, Antenore Square, the Basilica of St. Antonio and finally Prato della Valle.

Among the other Padova events organized as part of the S. Antonio Marathon, the Stracittadine also achieves considerable success and last year involved more than 20,000 people in an unprecedented Sunday of sport and well-being: 1.5 and 13.5 km non-competitive run or walk through the streets of Padua's historic centre.

The San Antonio Marathon Expo will be held as usual by the finish line, in Prato della Valle. The events in Padova, Italy include an exhibition of over 1000 square metres dedicated to sports products and services, particularly for the race, which will be open from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 April 2013.
