Venice Sunsplash 2011. Italian Sunsplash Reggae

From 01 July 2011 to 03 July 2011

Do you remember the seventies when the positive vibrations of Bob Marley music were invading the Isle of Jamaica and the rest of the world? After thirty years since the death of the most representative artist of reggae music of all times, the event Venice Sunsplash is back in 2011 with a tribute to the voice, culture and message of the defunct Jamaican singer. This great show is organized by the leading Rasta magazine Rasta Snob and sees the participation of additional groups, namely: Radio Base Popular Network, the Roots Cultural Association and the Manhattan Agency, which have joined forces to reinstate the atmospheres typical of the original Jamaican Reggae Sunsplash. The festival will take place on 1-3 July, 2011, in the park of the Isle of Union, in Chioggia, a unique location within the lagoon, surrounded by sun, sea and nature. The ideal place to hear great international artists play, such as Third World who are coming back to Italy after twenty years and the great John Holt, who will be in Italy for the first time and play a duet with the artist Frankie Paul. There will also be a well-honoured representation of the national music scene with the participation of great bands, namely Sud Sound System, , Fahrenheit 451, the emerging artist Mellow Mood and the highly acclaimed representative of the Reggae Venetian music Sir Oliver Skardy.

The highlight will be on 2 July with the presence of the acclaimed Kingston born artist Shaggy, whose name is indissolubly tied to the 1995 hit Bombastic, his best-selling record, which was used as the soundtrack of a famous Levis commercial.

The concerts and sounds of the festival will be set on a background of facilities perfectly fitting for this folklore event: from the ever present and lively ethnic markets, to the fish restaurants, the sandwich stalls and the typical Jamaican restaurants. Single and three-day cumulative tickets are on sale at the festival website at very low prices.

Additionally, for those wishing to turn the festival into a holiday opportunity, the Venice Sunsplash offers the opportunity to take advantage of special promotions with campsites and hotels around Chioggia, the beautiful historic sea town worth visiting and only round the corner from Venice.

A not-to-be-missed event for music lovers and for all those looking for an oasis of friendship and happiness where to spend their holidays.
