An unusual afternoon to experience the refined and seductive evoking atmosphere of the Carnival of Venice: the location is perfect for the event and a symbol of the splendour and prestige of the Venice Republic. The main building of the Hotel Danieli, in late Gothic style, was the residence of the Doge Dandolo ... After a careful restoration, it is today one of the most famous hotels in Venice, a special place to get in touch with the magic of the golden period of Venice.

In the breaks between dances hot chocolate and typical cakes will be served.

During Cotillon – Sweet Dance Classes, the traditional dances that you will learn include:- the Minuet, the favourite dance at the court of Louis XIV, usually danced by one couple with a series of slipped small steps aimed at drawing the form of 8, an S or Z; the Contraddanza, from the English 'Country Dance' which has two opposite rows, facing each other, and takes some steps from the Minuet; the Polka, evolution of some popular Bohemian dances of the early 19th century, is a fast dance, in pairs; the Waltz, born in Bavarian and Austrian rural areas, won the courts of much of Europe because of its sweet and flowing character; The Farandola, a fun group dance in which participants hold hands and follow the leader with changes of direction, coil and twist.

To take part in this unique event and learn some steps of these fascinating traditional dances, could prove very useful to take part in the elegant dances in the evening of the Carnival of Venice, such as the Tiepolo Ball, the Last Waltz in Venice or Contarina Ball in Venice... Book now your ticket and immerse yourself in the imaginative dances of the Carnival of Venice!
