Aldo Rossi Exhibition in Venice. Theatres: the extraordinary works of Aldo Rossi on show in one of Venice exhibitions in 2012
From 30 June 2012 to 25 November 2012
Showcased in the enchanting Magazzini del Sale in Venice, the exhibition on Aldo Rossi in Venice presents sixteen projects of the artist - from the early 70s to 1997 - brought together for the first time in one of the most exciting exhibitions in Venice in 2012. Organized by the Fondazione Vedova, this Venice exhibition is curated by Germano Celant and arranged by Gae Aulenti Associated Architects.
The Aldo Rossi Venice exhibition brings together 120 works: studies and architectural sketches, models for studies and competitions, drawings, stage and theatre-related objects, scenes, designed and built architectures, and, finally, stunning arrangements.Born in 1931, Aldo Rossi graduated in 1959 with a degree in architecture at the Milano Polytechnic University. Aldo Rossi architecture and design brought about profound changes in its contemporary years and triggered a series of reflections that influenced architecture in the following decades. A teacher in prestigious universities in Italy and abroad and the author of important publications, Aldo Rossi worked in big cities, such as Milan, Tokyo and New York, designing and building until his premature death in 1997 in a car crash.
Theatre, both as a building and space, is one of the most developed themes in Aldo Rossis projects. The exhibition at Magazzini del Sale in Venice showcases an extract of his vast production: from sketches and drawings for the Paganini Theater in Parma to the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa, from the projects for the reconstruction of the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice to fantastic visions, design objects and preparatory drawings for the scenes of great theatre representations, in which Aldo Rossi was able to make a concrete representation contribution.
The Venice exhibition will also present a fascinating reconstruction of one of the best known works from Aldo Rossi, the World Theatre, which he designed for the 1979 Venice Biennale.Highly effective arrangements, designed by Gae Aulenti Architects, together with informative and exhaustive explanations enhance this fascinating exhibition on Aldo Rossi in Venice.
As part of the exhibition at Magazzini del Sale in Venezia there will also be important works on loan from collection, museums and archives, amongst them the Milano Aldo Rossi Foundation and MAXXI Architecture (Rome as well as numerous contributions from private collections.
And after the exhibition, book one of the fabulous hotels in Venice and live the charm of this romantic city!Aldo Rossi. Theatres.
