The long-awaited Festival at the Arena di Verona 2014 will take place from 20 June to 7 September!
The full program of the Opera Season in Verona 2014 has no less than 54 appointments, to which 3 special events and an opening night of exception have been added. Chaired by the Verona Arena orchestra, 'The show is about to begin' at Arena will bring on stage national and international artists, such as Vittorio Grigolo, Massimo Ranieri, Riccardo Cocciante and Anastacia.
The opening of the Festival Arena di Verona 2014 is scheduled for Sunday 1 June and will offer a brief taste of the most intense and well-known works of the 92nd Festival of the Arena Verona 2014. Jesus Christ Superstar in Verona which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary since the film was released and it will be remembered with some famous scenes interpreted personally by the legendary Ted Neeley.
From 20 June to 7 September, the Arena di Verona Opera Festival 2014 will present 6 big shows: Un Ballo in Maschera, Carmen, Aida, Turandot, Madame Butterfly and Romeo and Juliette.
The first opera of the Arena in Verona program 2014 will be Un ballo in maschera by Giuseppe Verdi, presented in a new production, by Andrea Battistoni and directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi. From 21 June, the Arena Opera Festival 2014 will show Bizet's Carmen, which this year celebrates one hundred years after its first performance at the Arena di Verona, Italy.
From 28 June the most awaited and highly acclaimed Verdi's opera will return to the Arena di Verona: Aida has been revived for 2014 with two different arrangements; until 3 August the singular rearrangement of La Fura dels Baus, directed by Julian Kovatchev; from 10 August, Arena Verona Aida 2014 brings to the stage the excitement of the first performance of the opera season in Italy at the Arena in 1913, thanks to director Gianfranco de Bosio.
From 5 July at the Arena of Verona, Turandotby Giacomo Puccini, directed by and with scenes by the great Franco Zeffirelli. Zeffirelli's staging for the other classic Puccini's Madam Butterfly at the opera festival Arena di Verona scheduled for 15 August.
From 23 August for the Verona Arena opera season 2014 the last show will be Charles Gounod's Romeo and Juliette 2014 at the Arena di Verona directed by Carlo Montanaro.
Completing the calendar of opera at the Verona Arena 2014 three special evenings: on 17 July the welcome return of Placido Domingo in 'Plácido Domingo sings Verdi'; 22 July 'Roberto Bolle and Friends' - which will see Roberto Bolle at the Arena di Verona 2014 and other big stars of the international dance; 9 August, at the conclusion of the special events of the Arena di Verona, 'Carmina Burana' 2014 by Carl Orff.
