Back again this year the long-awaited opera season at the Verona Arena Opera Festival 2017! From 23rd June to 27th August, 48 evenings devoted to the Arena di Verona Opera season, including three special events: Roberto Bolle & Friends’s performance, Plácido Domingo - Antología de la Zarzuela and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 Gala Concert. The Verona Opera Festival 2017 programme will include: Nabucco, Rigoletto, Madama Butterfly, and the epitome of opera at the Verona Arena, Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, presented at the Arena Verona Opera Festival in 2017 in the two past versions of the Centenary edition and the 1933 memorable one.

Grand debut at the Arena Verona for Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi, which opens the opera season of the Arena di Verona Opera Festival 2017 and confirms itself as one of the most appreciated operas of the Arena calendar. Taking it in turn as conductorswill be Daniel Oren, who from 1984 directed the orchestra, choir and singers of 45 operas in 28 festivals, and Jordi Bernàcer, debuting on the stage of the Arena Festival in Verona on the occasion of its 95th edition.

24 June sees the beginning of the long programming of Aida at the Verona Arena: the most represented opera of the festival, it has become a symbol of the Verona opera festival program. For the Opera Festival of Verona in 2017, Verdi's opera will be staged in two versions: from 24th June to 23rd July, with the choreography of the Catalan team La Fura dels Baus, boasting spectacular scenography; from 28th July to 27th August Aida at the Arena of Verona will be represented in the scenic design inspired by the historic choreography of 1913 and directed by Gianfranco de Bosio.

From 2nd July hitting the stage will be Rigoletto under Ivo Guerra’s direction, whilst 8th July will see the return of Madame Butterfly with the spectacular staging of Franco Zeffirelli. The last entry in the 2017 Arena di Verona Festival programme will be Tosca, staged from 5th August.

In addition to the rich program dedicated to opera, the Arena di Verona devotes an evening to dance, and two great concerts.

Roberto Bolle at the Arena di Verona has become a classic, with a show that has now entered by law in the Arena di Verona festival programme: the international dancer and his Friends will bring to the Arena a show designed specifically for the magical scenery that only the arena is able to offer- classical and contemporary dance together in a tribute to the ethereal elegance of ballet. Roberto Bolle and friends in Verona will be accompanied by artists working in the biggest international dance companies… Ready for a repeat of the huge success of the last editions! On 17th July Roberto Bolle at the Arena di Verona opera Festival 2017!

21st July will see Plácido Domingo perform at the Opera Festival of the Arena di Verona with the great concert Antología de la Zarzuela. A not-to-be-missed event, in which the great tenor will sing the most exciting arias from the Spanish folk tradition accompanied by the Compañía Antonio Gades.

On 15th August the calendar will present a Gala Concert of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Beethoven's notes will resonate in the timeless ambience of the Verona Arena with music, lights design, singers and orchestra of the Verona Arena.... On 15th August, the 2017 Verona open air Opera Festival will bring to the stage the symphony that best celebrates brotherhood and freedom.

The Opera Festival in Verona 2017 confirms the previous editions times – 9.00 pm for the performances scheduled for the months of June and July (with the exception of Roberto Bolle and Friends on 17th July and Placido Domingo’s Gala concert on 21st July both starting at 10.00 pm); 8.45 pm for those in August, except the Gala Concert of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 which will also start at 10.00 pm.
