Cinema Festival
From 02 September 2009 to 12 September 2009

Created in 1932 as an extension of the Biennale art festival the event quickly assumed a dominant role in the international cinema world, with its avowed aim to promote the seventh art in all its facets. Its home is the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido, and will again attract all the famous names of cinema from the end of August until beginning of September. Films of all nationalities will be competing for the esteemed Leone dOro.
This 66th edition of thefestival is directed by Marco Mller and takes place from 2 - 12 September 2009. Heading the jury for the award of the Leone dOro for the best film is Ang Lee.
The career award for the prize will go to John Lasseter, animator for Disney Pixar. In conjunction with this will be the world premier for Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D, exclusive sequences of the Christmas film The Princess and the Frog and more.
Among the special events will be Questi fantasmi 2: cinema italiano ritrovato, dedicated to Italian cinema.
