Green Night in Venice: music and entertainment to highlight the importance of sustainability and a green economy

Saturday 5th May, 2012 a big celebration will take place in different cities in North Eastern Italy united in the name of sustainability and a green economy: the Green Night, considered the biggest European event of sustainability and a green economy. From the afternoon until late the Green Night will present the best experiences on sustainability already implemented as well as projects on the green economy, that position the North-East of Italy at the top of the classification of the greenest regions in Italy.

Venice takes part in the Green Night with numerous initiatives and events that put the city ahead of all the other participants: organized in many places in Venice and on the mainland, the Green Night promises to be one of the most interesting events in Venice in the months ahead.

Venice will be also livened up with music shows and street artists, who will perform in the name of sustainability. The Green Night is in fact part of a larger project that aims at strengthening the interest towards buskers with the goal of making, in a short time, Venice suitable to host street artists and their performances like no other city in the world.

Programme of Green Night in Venice -- sky observations in the Venice Lido Planetarium, from 4pm to sunset, and at the San Giuliano Park, from 9 pm to 10.30pm, where a show will be hosted to highlight, in an enjoyable way, the importance of sustainability; -- buskers and musicians will liven up Venices historical centre and Piazza Ferretto;-- a boat parade with lanterns, food and music along the Canal Grande and in several areas of Venice;-- opening until 10pm of the Correr Museum and the Doges Palace in Venice;-- opening of a contemporary art exhibition in Forte Marghera;-- market exhibition, promoted by businesses operating in the green economy, on renewable energies, sustainability and energy saving, where you can buy local organic food in Mestre and in Venice (campo San Polo livened up with music, buskers and childrens activities;-- nature trail though parks, woods and the streets of Mestre.

The Green Night will be an important moment of interaction between citizens, institutions and businesses that will have the opportunity to explore sustainability projects already implemented and new perspectives on Green Economy with debates and workshops about renewable energy, waste management, bio architecture and design, culture and much more, all accompanied by music and buskers for a night in Venice that should not be missed!Web:
