Padua and the School of GoldA priceless exhibition in all senses of the term, launched at the Palazzo della Ragione in Padua and then poised to travel to various other national and international destinations. With its 500+ exhibits it is fitting that this show begins in the City of the Saint, as it finally brings into the light the grandeur of Paduas gold working skills, and reminds us of the predominance of local craftsmen and artists who employed the materials for their masterpieces. The particular feature of the exhibits resides in a sphere away from purely commercial aims and focuses on the constant experimentation of both techniques and materials which Mario Pinton puts into practise, giving life to a school for artists which was destined to last through the march of time. Jewels of the authors highlights the taste for purity of form, the measure of materials and balance of proportion by Pinton and the other two master goldsmiths, Francesco Pavan and Giampaolo Babetto, and continuing with their illustrious students: Giorgio Cecchetto, Lucia Davanzo, Maria Rosa Franzin, Stefano Marchetti, Paolo Marcolongo, Paolo Maurizio, Barbara Paganin, Renzo Pasquale, Diego Piazza, Piergiuliano Reveane, Marco Rigovacca, Graziano Visintin, Alberta Vita, Annamaria Zanella and Alberto Zorzi.
Over a hundred cases displaying 500 pieces, many of which have been previously unseen, created from the 1850s until the present day.
