A traditional event for all lovers of cinema: the international short film festival in Italy in Cortina d'Ampezzo offer four days (20-23 March) of screenings, workshops, meetings, tributes, exhibits and curiosities dedicated to short films.
Born in the 90's as an innovative festival of cinema in Cortina, Cortinametraggio is a 'short films' festival that provides visibility to emerging filmmakers with the aim of promoting interaction between film and the audience. After a short pause, in 2010, the festival was revived in a totally new version that has managed to win over the public and the experts in the industry.
In recent editions, the protagonists of the competition, CortiComedy - Italian Cortinametraggio Festival of short film genre fiction and comedy offered by young directors - have been joined by many other interesting events, including: Booktrailers, an unprecedented combination of film and publishing to promote reading through short movies that highlight the essence and atmosphere of a book; and the retrospectives devoted to a non-competitive European country - after Spain, in 2014, it will be Netherlands turn.
Important collaborations with RAI, Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists and the Experimental Centre of Cinematography testify to the success and interest around the Cortina Film Festival, in which over the years, celebrities and artists such as Ricky Tognazzi, Paolo Genovese, Veronica Pivetti, Cinzia Th Torrini, Omar Pedrini, Jane Alexander, Enrico Lo Verso, Maurizio Mattioli and many other famous faces of Italian cinema parade along the red carpet.
In addition to CortiComedy and Booktrailers, the Cortinametraggio 2014 program opens to new forms of video distribution with the sections Webseries - Italian fiction only circulating on the web - and video Instagram - where social web users may engage in the production of short videos made with mobile devices.
Numerous awards will be awarded at Cortinametraggio assigned as usual by a jury of industry professionals, journalists and actors. What's New in 2014 will be NOI DI CORTINA, a special jury of Cortina inhabitants who will give a prize to the best short film.
In addition to Eden Cinema - the historic location of Cortinametraggio - the Cortina top events in 2014 will also have as a base at the Hotel Ancora, where there will be presentations, cocktails, culinary events and get-togethers.
Conferences dedicated to cinema and its protagonists, photographic exhibitions, meetings and book presentations complete the full program of Cortinametraggio 2014: a series of events to experience the film in all its facets, next to the historical and new short film competitions.
From Friday 28 to Sunday 30 March the Dolomites events in Cortina d'Ampezzo will be tinged with colours from across the Alps. Braderie d'Ampezzo in Cortina will animate the streets of fashion, food and wine with a lively outdoor market.
