Cortinametraggio - International Short Film Festival in Italy
Confirmed among the most anticipated short films festivals in Italy, the Cortina film festival will offer seven days (20 to 26 March) of screenings, workshops, meetings, tributes, exhibits and curiosities dedicated to short films.
Launched in the 90s as an innovative showcase for the Cortina film festival, Cortinametraggio is a short genre film festival that offers visibility to emerging filmmakers with the aim of promoting interaction between film and the audience. After a short pause, in 2010 this movie festival in Italy was revived in a totally new version that has captivated the public and the experts in the industry. Cortinametraggio in 2017 celebrates its 12th edition and another important milestone: 20 years from its beginning! Cortinametraggio aims to promote cinema and, in particular, its special bond with Cortina through screenings and other events, open to all and strictly free. Thanks also to the creation of the jury Noi di Cortina, which awards the audience prize, the event wants to bring the inhabitants of Cortina closer to contemporary film culture.
Beside the classical protagonists of the festival - the CortiComedy - Italian short films of fiction and comedy genre, under the artistic direction of Vincenzo Scuccimarra –exciting new 'competitions' have been included:
- Webseries, a section dedicated to the best Italian films published and distributed exclusively on the Internet during 2015 and 2016;
- Music Videoclips, considered an extraordinary source of talents of Italian filmmakers. The artistic Director, Cosimo Alemà, can boast over two decades of experience in the film, advertising and music videos industry, where he worked with well-known artists such as Ligabue, Mina, Gianna Nannini and J-Ax:
Important collaborations with Rai, National Union of Italian Film Journalists, Experimental Centre of Cinematography and the National Short Film Centre testify to the success and interest around the Cortina film festival, which over the years has seen artists the likes of Ricky Tognazzi, Paolo Genovese, Veronica Pivetti, Cinzia Th Torrini, Omar Pedrini, Jane Alexander, Enrico Lo Verso, Maurizio Mattioli and many other famous stars of Italian cinema parading on its red carpet. In 2017 get ready to see important guests on the red carpet such as Alessandro Preziosi, Giorgio Pasotti, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Gabriella Pession and Elena Sofia Ricci!
Besides CortiComedy, Webseries and Videoclips, the program of Cortinametraggio Festival 2017 also includes a section dedicated to soundtracks, which will be judged by an exceptional jury composed of Emanuela Castellini (journalist), Maurizio Di Maggio (Radio Monte Carlo), Elena Zingali (Universal Music), Michele Braga ( composer) and Nicola Dogs (record producer). The other awards up for grabs at Cortinametraggio – prizes available for the CortiComedy, Webseries and Videoclips sections plus some honourable mentions - will be awarded as usual by specialist juries composed of journalists, actors and prominent directors.
In addition to the Eden Cinema - the historic location of Cortinametraggio - events scheduled in 2017 will be based at the Grand Hotel Savoia, where there will be presentations, cocktails, food and gala evenings.
Conferences dedicated to cinema and its protagonists, meetings and book presentations complement the rich Cortinametraggio international film festival program. A series of Dolomites events to experience the cinema festivals in Italy in all its facets, next to established and new competitions of short films.
