From 6 p.m. on 11 December the new arena of Conegliano, the Zoppas Arena, will rock to the sounds of Metal Fest. 5 hours of music with Kataklysm, Marduk, Keep of Kalessin and Arsis culminating in the much-awaited Morbid Angel. This is one of only two Italian dates, the other being in Milan. Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Morbid Angel are one of the favourite bands on the Death Metal scene. Formed in 1984 by guitarist Trey Azaghtoth to give a vital boost to the then- ailing genre, they achieved critical acclaim in 1989 with their Altar of madness, whose energy and ferocity took them straight to the top of the UK Independent charts. The follow-up Blessed are the sick reinforced the groups reputation and Treys songwriting talents. The bands Covenant and Domination, dating from93 and 95, confirmed their solid abilities. In 1998 after the arrival of Steve Tucker the band put out Formula fatal to the flash, reissued a year later with the bonus CD Lava of love. 2000 saw the release of Gateways to annihilation, the second offering with Steve Tucker now a stable member.Hereticfollowed in 2003, another highly acclaimed album. The most important event in the groups history however is 2005, when original singer and bassist David Vincent rejoined after a 7-year absence, thus reuniting the original line-up.
