The program for the Mille Miglia race, Italy 2013 includes a highly suggestive route to pay homage to the figure of Giannino Marzotto, with the inclusion of the Mille Miglia historical routes that have seen Marzotto triumph in the Mille Miglia in 1950 and 1953. In addition, to commemorate the earthquake in Emilia last year, which took place a few hours after the Mille Miglia, the race will make a symbolic passing of the hardest hit areas.
The Vintage car race in Italy the Mille Miglia storica was a famous long-distance race, held in Italy from 1927 to 1957 for a total of 24 editions. Since 1977 the Mille Miglia is back as a regularity race for historic cars manufactured before 1957 and recorded in an edition of the Mille Miglia. The Mille Miglia race route winds along the traditional distance of one thousand miles from Brescia to Rome and back, encompassing as much as possible the original route of the race.
For the Mille Miglia 2013 only 375 vintage cars will be allowed, driven by teams coming from all over the world and selected according to strict criteria of originality.
The route of the Mille Miglia will start from Brescia on Thursday night to get to Rome the next day and again on Saturday morning for the return. Sunday will be dedicated to celebrations and award ceremonies.
The passing of the Mille Miglia in Verona 2013 is expected to arrive late on Thursday evening, followed by Vicenza, Padua and Rovigo before entering Emilia and then down to Rome, passing some of the most beautiful cities in Italy.
The Mille Miglia route from Verona - includes a stop in one of the most magical places in the city of Verona, Br Square, where, at the Arena, the cars will stop for the control stamp in Gran Guardia Palace.
After crossing the province of Verona, the Mille Mille in Vicenza leaves for Montebello, passes through Montecchio Maggiore - with stamp control in Cathedral Square - and Cordellina Lombardi Villa, a splendid example of Palladian architecture. For the Mille Miglia in Vicenza there is an exceptional program: after the arrival in the historic centre of Porta Castello, the cars will travel along the Corso Palladio, Signori Square and Angels Bridge, following the route of the historic race. The route of the Mille Miglia in Vicenza continues in the direction of Monte Berico, where cars will face the road time trial in Commanda Street.
Considered one of the most anticipated historic classic car events in Italy at an international level, the Mille Miglia is now a charming historical commemoration that brings to life the spirit and charm of the original race, a meeting point between sport and glamour that for thirty years has had no equal.
