S. Antonio Padova Marathon 2015
For what concerns Marathons in Italy, 2015 has a lot to offer to sport lovers, and Veneto will be protagonist of many different events!
From 19 April 2015 to 20 April 2015
On 19 April 2015, the city of Padova will experience an entire day dedicated to sport, thanks to the awaited 16th San Antonio Marathon, Padova, one of the most important appointments among Padova events. The Padova Marathon, Italy, offers a rich programme, which promises to meet the tastes of professional athletes, but also of sport lovers in general, with a series of competitions including the Marathon, the Half Marathon and the Stracittadine-City Runs.
Now at its 16th edition, the Padua Marathon offers to the athletes a high level competition in a suggestive setting. But it is not only a race for professional athletes. Padova Marathon 2015 is thought to give the opportunity of spending a day doing sports in the open air to all the citizens of Padova, tourists and visitors looking for Padua events.
The competition had its first edition in 2000 and is now among the major sporting events in Italy, witnessing an increasing number of participants and spectators every year. The Sant Antonio Marathon Padova constitutes a true event for the all city and boasts various simultaneous appointments.
The track of the race will be once again closed to the traffic for eight hours. This will allow the participants and the public of Marathon Padua 2015 to concentrate exclusively on the race from the beginning to the end. The city will be conquered by the atmosphere of the competition and participants will be cheered along all the itinerary, which will travel through the same route done by Saint Antony in 1231. The Marathon Padova will begin in the small town of Campodarsego and will continue along the Roman route 'graticolato romano', passing through the villages of San Giorgio delle Pertiche, Camposampiero, Massanzago and Borgoricco. After the village of Cadoneghe then, the athletes will eventually reach the city centre of Padova for the last part of the race passing near some beautiful historical sites of the city such as St. Antony Basilica, and arriving in Prato della Valle, the largest square in Europe.
Padova Half Marathon, instead, runs through a different itinerary, but still through sites of historical importance such as Camposampiero, where Sanit Antony spent his last days, and the Santuario del Noce. The last part of the race will run in the same track as the Marathon, ending in beautiful Padova city centre. Marathon Padova 2015 programme also includes a Paralympic Marathon. This race boasts an increasing number of participants every year and makes Padova Italy Marathon an international sport event.
Finally, the Padova Marathon Italy 2015 offers also to a wider public the opportunity of enjoying an itinerary in the open air in the city centre, thanks to the Stracittadine-City Runs. The Stracittadine are non competitive races and in this year's edition will offer three different tracks to choose from: the 1 km track, dedicated to those who cannot run long distances, the 5 km track and the 10 km track. The latter could be also run as a true race, thanks to the “10km Challenge” competition!
