One of the most important marathons in Italy in 2014 in Veneto is fast approaching: San Antonio Marathon and half marathon and 'City Runs - returns for another day of sport and solidarity. The San Antonio Marathon is now in its 15th edition and the marathon in Padua 2014 is scheduled for Sunday, April 27th!
In addition to Venice and Treviso, the Padua events also boast the Sant'Antonio marathon starting from Campodarsego and finishing in Prato della Valle - the course being mainly based on the famous route followed by the saint of Padua (St. Antonio) in 1231, shortly before his death.
Since the first edition of the San Antonio Marathon in April, organized on the occasion of the Jubilee of 2000, the Padua marathon has stood out for its excellent organization and has received a lot of positive feedback and participation. Until to 2010, the marathon in Padua, Italy wound its way from Vedelago in Padua. The Sant Antonio Marathon Padova is now one of the most anticipated sport events in Italy, hitherto absent in the calendar of town events and now offering a great sporting event in Padua. Not forgetting the many humanitarian projects that the Padova marathon of St. Antonio has supported since its first edition.
From Campodarsego, the starting point of the maratona di Padova in 2011, the race winds along the so-called 'Roman grid' through beautiful towns of the Veneto mainland such as San Giorgio delle Pertiche, Camposampiero, Massanzago, Borgoricco and Reschigliano. This major sporting event in Italy, which is closed to traffic for eight hours, is fast paced and almost completely flat.
In the San Antonio half marathon 2014 and full marathon in Campodarsego - Padova, also Paralympic athletes may participate. Every year more and more participants compete - more than 200 registrations recorded in 2013 which catapulted the Padua Italy marathon to the same level of marathons in Berlin and New York.
Participants can undertake the classic Padova Marathon in 2014 - 42,195 km or the Padova half-marathon 2014 and non-competitive races.
The Padova half-marathon in San Antonio - 21.097 kilometres, starts from Camposampiero, where St Antonio spent the last days of his life, and finishes in the beautiful surroundings of Prato della Valle. Like previous editions, the Padua half marathon will pass the historic Santuario del Noce before joining the last stretch of the marathon passing through San Giorgio delle Pertiche, Cadoneghe and finally Padua.
Among the most anticipated events in Padova, Italy, the City Runs are part of the marathon of St Antonio. They involves thousands of people each year: 13. 5 and 1 km run or walk through the charming historic centre of Padua to enjoy some sport and fitness.
The route of the Padua San Antonio half marathon in Italy and the full marathon travel between rural landscapes and streets of the historical centre, a combination of nature, history and fun in a unique and evocative competition. The athletes who will compete in the Padua Marathon in Italy 2014 in St Antonio will appreciate the scenery of the Padua province before immersing in the art of the historic centre, admiring Signori Square , Antenore Square, the Basilica of St. Antonio and finally Prato della Valle.
