Sand Sculpture Festival 2016 in Jesolo Lido

Piazza Brescia hosts the most beautiful European cities... in the sand!

From 02 June 2016 to 11 September 2016

The full calendar of the summer events in Jesolo 2016 could not be without the traditional appointment with the sand sculptures exhibition in Jesolo Italy. From 2 June to 11 September the Jesolo international festival sand sculpture exhibition will transport the most popular seaside resort of the Upper Adriatic in a charming trip through Europe!

Following the successful format that was started last year with the Jesolo of sand sculpture exhibition dedicated to the First World War, the festival gets closer to the heart of the city and moves away from the traditional marquee set up on the beach... After the success of 2015 Piazza Brescia is confirmed as prime location also for the Lido di Jesolo sand festival 2016. From 22 May you will be able to see the artists at work and watch the different stages of the creative process for the realization of these extraordinary works of sand art. Starting from a block of sand weighing about 1 ton, compacted with water, the artists have to remove, shape, add and sculpture to create the work that they have decided to present. Once completed, the sculptures will remain in Piazza Brescia until 11 September… Open to everyone!

Since 1998, the Jesolo sand sculpture festival is a real attraction for sculptors from all over the world, ready to engage in the difficult test to model large sand volumes freely interpreting a theme, that differs from year to year, which leaves ample space for creativity and imagination. The theme chosen for the exhibition of Jesolo sand sculptures festival 2016 is inspired by the most beautiful European capitals.

Facilitated by the historical artistic direction of Richard Varano and with the collaboration of the students of the Art School M. Guggenheim in Venice, the artists must create 'European Capitals'… London, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Prague, Madrid, Berlin and Copenhagen will be reproduced as if by magic on the sand! Piazza Brescia will become an attractive ideal route to discover the most beautiful cities in Europe. National symbols and monuments will be re-interpreted by the imagination of the sculptors who, like every year, will be able to demonstrate their mastery talents in total freedom.
