17th National Festival of Electric and Acoustic GuitarA special edition of this event which has steadily increased over the years. With its origins in the nineties as a meeting for vintage guitars, the Soave Guitar Festival has extended its scope to everyone interested in good music, offering a varied and stimulating programme situated in one of the most beautiful towns of the Veneto. This year is of particular interest to guitarists: the six-string weapon of choice during the protests of 68 reaches its 40th anniversary. This period, a historic movement rather than merely a year, witnessed tragedies and martyrs in the name of freedom: among these, Martin Luther King, who is immortalised in two examples of the Fender Dreamcaster (created especially for the Soave Guitar Festival 2008 and taking its name from the famous I have a dream passage from the Nobel Peace Prize winners most famous speech one of which will be on display in the festivals museum and the other as a prize for one of the lucky visitors. The festival takes place between 25 and 27 April and in three locations: Exhibition/ guitar market in the Municipal Hall (open 10.30 6p.m. last entrance 5p.m.) with stands from all over Italy and abroad; Seminars in the medieval church of S. Maria of the Dominican Fathers (11 6p.m.) with national and internationally renowned guitarists; and evening concerts in the Palazzetto dello Sport (start 9p.m.). This editions guests will be: Tommy Emmanuel, Lizzie Watkins, Monte Montgomery, Laurence Juber (ex Wings among others Muriel Anderson, Reno Brandoni, William Dotto, Giovanni Palombo, Giovanni Baglioni, Massimo Varini, Franco Morone, Marcio Rangel, Giovanni Ferro and The Frank Vignola Quintet.
