The Giornata FAI di Primavera in Veneto
From 24 March 2012 to 25 March 2012
Since its first edition, in 1993, the Giornata FAI has seen the participation of more than 6.500.000 Italians in a unique experience to discover unusual places and forgotten or unknown environments.
Dedicated to the artistic and naturalistic Italian heritage, the Giornata FAI di Primavera is a cultural and splendid event which cannot be missed. Thanks to the extraordinary opening of various sites every year the Giornata FAI has an enormous success and offers the possibility to discover new wonderful parts of Italy and little known artistic heritage sites. To celebrate the 20th anniversary, the 2012 Giornata FAI will allow you to visit 670 places all over Italy, many of which have already been opened in the past editions and with great success. Archaeological areas, nature trails, hamlets, gardens, churches, museums, cultural itineraries, excursions, bicycle routes and many others will be organized during the two days of the Giornata FAI. Around the 40% of the open sites during the Giornata FAI are also suitable for people with impaired mobility.
During the Giornata FAI the event Apprendisti Ciceroni is back, involving more than 15.000 young students to illustrate the historical aspects of the monuments. Thanks to the various special openings, the Giornata FAI di Primavera aims at bringing Italian people closer to the campaign of Fondo Ambiente Italiano by asking them for a small contribute for the safeguard of the artistic and naturalistic heritage in Italy.
For more than 35 years FAI, thanks to the support of its sponsors (private, institutions and businesses restores and opens to the public historical, naturalistic or artistic artefacts that have been donated to FAI, given as inheritance or for free usage.
A private and non profit making foundation, the Fondo Ambiente Italiano aims at safeguarding, maintaining and enhancing the vast and unique artistic and naturalistic Italian heritage.
In Veneto FAI looks after two important sites: the Villa dei Vescovi at Luvigliano di Torreglia (Pd donated to FAI in 2005 by the Olcese family, and the Negozio Olivetti at Venice, donated as a concession to FAI in 2011. The Giornata FAI in Veneto will open other marvellous places in Veneto and organize a number of side events. During the Giornata FAI events, you will be able to become a member of the Fondo Ambiente Italiano and enjoy additional benefits during your visits, and also listen to the students of the project Apprendisti Ciceroni acting as trainee guides. Guided visits, trips, itineraries and conferences will liven up the whole of Veneto during the two days of FAI 2012.
