From 19 September 2008 to 21 September 2008

Exhibition and market of beansFood & Drink, Arts & Crafts, Exhibitions, FolkloreComune di Lamon, Belluno.

This event originated to praise the Lamon bean, which appeared 500 years ago in the Belluno region when the monk Pietro Valeriano received some seeds from Pope Clement VII, and takes place every year on the third weekend of September. It is possible to purchase this precious legume, and also to sample it prepared in various ways from the many stands erected for the occasion. In 1993 the Consortium for Lamon beans in the Belluno valley was formed, and in 1996 the bean, still produced using traditional methods, was awarded the European Community appellation "I.G.P.", indicating its origins in a protected geographical area. In addition to sampling and buying the event offers displays and exhibitions about the history and traditions of the territory, as well as many and varied attractions. In addition a large area is devoted to the arts and crafts of the regions, with one area reserved exclusively for crafts and sculpture. Small wonder that the fair attracts more than 30,000 people every year.
