Prosecco Cycling 2019 in Valdobbiadene
Entertainment, excitement and adrenaline in the historic gf prosecco cycling
29 September 2019
Professional cyclists and lovers of the sports on two wheels, save this date: September 29th 2019. Why? Because one of the most anticipated cycling events in Italy will take place! The legendary Prosecco Cycling Race represents an original way to introduce the enchanting territory of Treviso, renowned for its beautiful vineyards and the production of Prosecco: beautiful scenery combined with artistic, historical, cultural and gastronomic delights, makes it one of the most interesting and appreciated places in Italy.
Add to this the fact that the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene have this year been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list! What better way to celebrate than with a nice ride in these magnificent places and with a good glass of local wine?
Founded in 2004 with the aim of promoting the areas producing Prosecco in Treviso, the Prosecco Cycling Marathon achieved immediate acclaim. Year after year, the competition has become one of the most anticipated sporting events in Veneto and in Italy, as well as being a strong attraction for tourism throughout the province. This is the very reason why, in 2010, the race gained the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism and the patronage of the President of the Republic.
The number of participants confirms the resounding success of the event: the gf Prosecco Cycling Classic Valdobbiadene (TV) is gradually increasing the number of enrolments, continuing to confirm itself as one of the ten most attended cycling events of the entire season.
Beloved by the Italian public, this fascinating cycling race is conquering the hearts of foreign fans ...The gf Prosecco Cycling race 2019 already has many registrations and this year, for the first time, it will take two thousand cyclists from all over the world through the historical center of Conegliano!
Let’s have a look at the Prosecco Cycling programme 2019: the real race will be on Sunday 29th September during a weekend full of entertainment and wine tasting... made with Prosecco!
The Prosecco Cycling Classic 2019 will follow the format of previous editions: pedalling for and with your team! There will be two final prizes: one for teams, which will award the team with the largest number of team members crossing the arrival line; a second prize for single competitors which will take into account the achievements in the four timed sections of the itinerary – Zuel (average gradient of 10.4%), Muro Ca 'del Poggio (average gradient of 13.4%), via dei Colli in Conegliano (average gradient of 11.4%), Collalto (average gradient of 6.8%) - and the sum of the these times achieved by each participant will determine the final standings, taking into account the age categories of Acsi Ciclismo. Besides the overall time of the race, participants will then be able to establish their absolute and category standings according to the sum of their times in the timed sections, and their absolute and category standings for each single timed stage. On top of these, the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Cycling Classic will also award the group – formed of at least five participants, men and/or women, registered with the same team – that scores the fastest time over the entire race course and cross the finish line within 30 seconds.
There will be a single route for the Prosecco Cycling marathon of 2019 with an itinerary suitable even for less trained riders! You can join with every type of bicycle, even electric ones!
Let's see in detail the spectacular places that athletes will ride through during the Prosecco Cycling Classic 2019: a 98,4 km long route and characterized by an ascent of about 1550 metres. Once started from Valdobbiadene, the athletes will touch the picturesque town of Combai, Follina and Tarzo, then continuing towards Resera and Refrontolo. Then the athletes will cross Serbaglia della Battaglia, San Pietro di Feletto, ride through the historical centre of Conegliano and reach Collalto. Returning to Valdobbiadene, the cycling group will head towards Col San Martino, Guia and Follo.
The Gf Prosecco Cycling 2019 route is not expected to be particularly hard ... with the exception of the Muro Ca' del Poggio timed section, where cyclists will anyway be able to replenish their energy with a special snack of scampi and Prosecco.
Thanks to the numerous Civil Protection volunteers who work every year to ensure the event runs smoothly, a well-planned and safe route are still the main features of this cycling race in Italy.
The 2019 Valdobbiadene Prosecco cycling classic will have a special guest: Claudio Chiappucci, known as ‘El Diablo’! Are you ready to follow him on this fantastic journey over the gentle hills covered with vineyards?
From this year CIA - AGRICOLTORI ITALIANI of Treviso is teaming up with the Prosecco Cycling race. And, thanks to this new partnership, the event of September 29 launches a charity initiative towards the Vita Down Cooperative of San Polo di Piave (Treviso). In support of the agricultural activities of 'Casa Vittoria', which helps to integrate young people with mental disabilities in the agricultural and catering sector, cyclists will be given a jar of top-quality locally sourced pickled courgettes, grown and packaged by the young people of the Cooperative.
