The 12th to 14th December sees the ex Casin del Lido host the first edition of the international Venice Comic Art Fest. The event, sponsored by Venice Comix with the Venice Convention provides an opportunity for the public to broaden their horizon regarding comics and an interesting reason for visiting the lagoon city at the end of the year. In addition to designs and storyboards on display, the event promises the presence of famous guests from the world of cartoon art. Among others the great Milo Manara will be presenting over a hundred designs from his comc Quarantasei, written by the motorcycling champion Valentino Rossi, and published in the book as well as in Rolling Stone magazine. There will also be a variety of accompanying events connected with the world of comics throughout the Lido and further afield: a show by David Riondino,the comedians from the popular TV show Zelig, a conference at the university of Ca Foscari on the genre of comics and much more. The last day of the festival is also the opening of of an exhibtion at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia dedicated to Manara which runs for a month until 14th January.
