Why is the service only available from April 1 to November 2 and not from November 3 to March 31?
The service is suspended from November 3 to March 31 because the waiting time to enter St Mark's Basilica is significantly reduced and therefore visitors can enter without having to queue for a long time.
How far in advance can I book?
You can book online up to 10 minutes before the time chosen for the visit.
Can I book and pay on the spot without using your website?
We are afraid not! Skip the line entry can be booked exclusively online, with payment by credit card.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
After the payment you cannot cancel or change your reservation. Therefore, before you complete your purchase, we recommend you carefully check the information entered.
Can I get a refund if I choose not to visit?
We are afraid not. As we point out online, at the beginning of the booking process online, confirmed bookings are non-refundable under no circumstances.
Are there discounts?
The entrance is free for children aged 0-6 years. In addition, travel agents, tour operators and religious groups registered on venetoinside.com can benefit from discounts.
For registered users to our reserved area: What should I put in the file reference field?
The file reference field can be used at your discretion (internal reference, group name, initials, ...). The field is compulsory and cannot be left blank. Should you not care to use them, you just need to enter any character in order to proceed with your reservation.
Do I need to present my voucher on the day of the visit?
The voucher is the only valid document and you can present it to our staff either on a paper copy or on a mobile device (smartphones, tablets or other devices).
What happens if the Basilica is closed due to circumstances beyond our control (eg. high water) and/or for safety reasons, and/or for religious services not forecasted by the calendar and/or state visits?
If the Basilica remains closed for the entire day, the reservation is considered invalid and cannot be refunded. If the closure does not affect the whole day, you can use your voucher in the effective opening hours of the Basilica. If possible, we will notify you immediately via email of such changes and how to take advantage of your reservation. Unfortunately, in case of sudden or unexpected closures, it is not always possible to notify our customers.
Is a certain type of clothing required to be able to access St Mark's Basilica?
Keep in mind that access is granted only to visitors with suitable clothing since the visitors' clothing must respect the sanctity of the place. We recommend to avoid shorts, sleeveless, low-cut and too skimpy clothing.
Where exactly is the St. Peter's Gateway from where I can enter without queuing?
The door for access without queuing is located on the left hand-side of the central door. Its position is clearly marked on both maps on the voucher.
Who can I contact for information or assistance once I arrive at St Mark's Basilica?
If necessary, please go to the Venetoinside Info Point at the San Clemente Door, located on the right hand-side of the Basilica door. It is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9.45am to 4.00pm from April 1 to October 31. Our staff will be happy to give you all the information and assistance you need.
Can I enter the Basilica with bags, backpacks or bags?
No, it is strictly forbidden to bring suitcases, backpacks or bulky bags in the Basilica! Before you enter, we advise you to place them at the Ateneo San Basso. On the voucher you will find detailed directions on how to get to the luggage storage and a map that shows its location.
How long can I stay in the Basilica?
The duration of the tour inside is about 10 minutes to allow everyone to enjoy the monument and to avoid excessive overcrowding. Keep in mind that if you want to visit other attractions, such as the Treasury, the Pala d'Oro, or the Museum, you can stay in the building for as long as necessary.
Can I take pictures or make videos inside the Basilica?
I am afraid not! It is forbidden to take photographs and/or shoot videos within the building.
What should I do if I was not able to download the voucher after booking?
Voucher and invoice can be downloaded directly on venetoinside.com on the confirmation page that will appear at the end of the booking process. They will both be sent also by mail to the address indicated at the time of booking. If you are not able to download the voucher from your confirmation page and if you have not even received it via mail, you can dowload it on your own at the following link: you just need a valid payment order number (e.g.: PYMVD17-54…) or dossier number (e.g.: VD17-54…), and the email address used for your bookings.
Can the voucher be used by a different person than the one indicated on the voucher?
When using the service a personal document may be required to ensure correspondence of the information on the voucher. If the voucher is used by someone other than specified under ‘Reference person', simply contact us and inform us of the change.
