Ca' Marcello is waiting for you for a unique and unrepeatable experience in Piombino Dese, in the heart of Veneto, nestled between Padua, Treviso and Venice... Count Vettor Marcello and his family will personally open the doors of Villa Marcello, one of the most beautiful Palladian style Venetian villas in the region. The building was erected by the Marcello family back in the 16th century and is still their private home, loved and guarded with care from generation to generation.
By booking this unique chic-nic you will enjoy an exclusive privilege just for you: just like the nobles of the past, you will be personal guests of the Marcello family and listen to stories and anecdotes related to Venice and its lands directly from the owners, living an unrepeatable and authentic leap back in time!
To savor the uniqueness of the 'villa life', Ca’ Marcello in Piombino Dese will also offer you the exclusive privilege of having lunch in its splendid eighteenth-century park, perfectly restored and preserved: at the end of the guided tour you can enjoy a private breakfast in the park, in total and elegant relaxation. In the 19th century the French aristocrats, among which Manet and other famous artists of Impressionism, called it 'Le déjeuner sur l'herbe', 'Breakfast on the grass'... We like to call it CHIC-NIC, an exciting, exclusive and original way to feel what it is like to be part of the villa life. You will have at your disposal a comfortable blanket and a basket containing delicacies prepared just for you: quiche made with seasonal vegetables, a selection of 2 cheeses and 2 local cold cuts, fresh bread, mineral water, 1 bottle of Ca ‘Marcello wine (a choice between Cabernet, Pinot bianco, Villa Marcello Prosecco).
Pick the corner you prefer in the park of Ca’ Marcello, sit down and have lunch in an informal and reserved way, taking all the time you want to admire this historical place with new eyes, reliving the authentic stories you heard during the visit and enjoy the privilege acting as nobles for a day.
In case of bad weather and/or impossibility to use the park, a light buffet lunch will be served with support tables inside the villa.
The wonderful Villa Marcello, Italy, is a Venetian villa built as a hunting lodge at the beginning of the 16th century in Levada, a hamlet in Piombino Dese at the behest of Andrea Marcello in a woody area rich in game and strategic because it is surrounded by numerous spring rivers. Ca' Marcello in Levada is today one of the most important Palladian style villas in the Veneto region. Currently well-known as a film location, Ca' Marcello in Piombino Dese houses precious 18th-century frescoes, exquisite decorations, rare stucco paintings and original furnishings that make it one of the most authentic and best preserved residences in which to discover what life in a typical Venetian villa is like.
But there is one specific characteristic that makes the visit to Ca' Marcello in Levada di Piombino Dese an unrepeatable and unique experience: it is still the private residence of the Marcello family, who have lived here almost uninterruptedly since the 1500s, guarding it with inexhaustible care and attention. Count Vettor and his son Jacopo, English mother tongue, will tell you the story of Villa Ca' Marcello and their family, with a journey through time made of moments and objects of real life, anecdotes and plots that you will not find in any book and nowhere else.
This exclusive Ca' Marcello guided tour represents an extraordinary opportunity to get to know the history of Venice and Veneto from an authentic and unusual point of view. The Marcello family is in fact one of the oldest in the region and are the protagonists of one of the main events in Venetian history: Pietro and Domenico Marcello were two of the signers of the document that donated the island of San Giorgio to the Benedictine order, sanctioning the foundation of the city of Venice, in the year 982 - over 1000 years ago. Subsequently, the Marcello family further increased its power and was included in the famous 'Serrata del Maggior Consiglio', one of the crucial moments in the history of Venice - from which the list of the most powerful aristocratic families was drawn up. Families included in the list were allowed to reach the highest political offices of the Serenissima Republic, of which the Maggior Consiglio represented the highest decision-making and executive body.
But this is not all: among the most illustrious ancestors, the Marcellos include two Doges of the Republic, many humanists - including the composer Benedetto Marcello to whom the Conservatory of the City of Venice is dedicated, and famous 'Capitani da Mar', the greatest admirals of the Venetian fleet. Can you imagine how many exciting stories there are to hear?
Try our chic-nic at Ca’ Marcello, a private Venetian villa full of stories to tell to feel immersed in the villa life and experience moments of relaxation in an authentic and unique place in the world, as personal and privileged guests of a timeless dwelling!
