Choose the route you prefer, reach the meeting point to receive the necessary material to play the game (a map and instructions to download the dedicated app on your mobile phone via wi-fi, without using your personal credit) and set off: following the instructions you will reach the various stages to find the treasure ... Get ready to learn about the best-kept secrets of Venice and its famous Carnival!
This gripping Carnival treasure hunt is suitable for everyone: families with children, groups of friends, young people ... If you take part with a partner, you can also play in pairs and buy a single ticket!
Here are the two itineraries, with their departure time, for you to choose:
ITINERARY DEPARTING NEAR ST MARK'S SQUARE - AVAILABLE AT 10.00, 11.30, 14.00 AND 16.30
- You will visit some of the most important squares in the historic center, including Campo Manin, Campo Santo Stefano and Campo Sant'Anzolo
- You will discover lesser-known sights, such as Scala Contarini del Bovolo
- You will visit the ancient Murderers’ street
- You will cross the bridge of Ostreghe, whose name derives from the ancient Venetian fishing tradition
- You will also visit several churches, often the subject of fascinating anecdotes and scandalous stories...
ITINERARY DEPARTING NEAR PIAZZALE ROMA - AVAILABLE AT 09.30, 10.30, 12.30, 14.30 AND 15.30
- You will cross the Grand Canal three times in the most strategic points of the city: Calatrava bridge, Scalzi bridge and the famous Rialto bridge
- You will walk across one of the most typical squares of Venice, Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio
- You will discover the oldest church in Venice with its sundial and learn about the Hunchback of Rialto
- You will wander around some of the most characteristic streets of Venice, such as Calle dei Boteri to hear the fascinating story of the barrel makers
- At Rialto, you will explore the hidden corners of the historic fish market and the famous Herbarium
- You will walk along the Mercerie and arrive next to St Mark’s Square!
A unique experience that will allow you to discover Venice guided only by a map and an easy-to-use app! In fact, unlike the classic guided tour, this treasure hunt offers complete freedom: you will test your map-reading and the clues-solving skills and listen to the explanations contained in the app whilst visiting some of the most fascinating sights in the historic center!
The possibility to choose between two different starting points - one near St Mark’s Square and one near Piazzale Roma - is the ideal solution for those staying in the historic center as wells as those arriving in Venice by train, bus or car! Both itineraries have been designed to try to avoid the most crowded areas of the Carnival and allow you to enjoy a truly unique experience!
To complete the game all you have to do is photograph at least 3 of the points indicated on the map ... At the end of the route you will find the treasure: show the photos to the artisan mask maker and you will receive two beautiful Venetian masks, a hand decorated one and a white one, which you can decorate following the precious advice from the mask maker!
Do you think that’s the end of it? Wear the masks, take a selfie and enter the photo contest! Post one (or both!) on the official Facebook page of venetoinside.com with #carnivaltreasure and ask your friends to add their 'likes': the ten photos with the highest ‘likes’ will be selected by a special jury that will choose the final winner! Up for grabs is another wonderful mask made by expert Venetian craftsmen!
