Minuets and dances for a fun afternoon in a mask with friends!

In the magnificent hall of the historic Hotel Monaco&Grand Canal you will learn the steps of the traditional group dances from the 18th century. Our dance teachers will follow you step by step in the dances, accompanied by a trio of Baroque music that will play live for the duration of the event! Cotillon – Dance Classes will take place on 5 and 7 February, from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm! Choose the date you prefer and book online!

An unusual afternoon to experience the refined and seductive evoking atmosphere of the Carnival of Venice: the location is perfect for the event and a symbol of the splendour and prestige of the Venice Republic. The Dandolo Palace, which is now seat of the Hotel Monaco&Grand Canal, once hosted one of most popular casino of the Venice Republic… After a careful restoration, it is today a very special place to get in touch with the magic of the golden period of Venice.

In the breaks between dances hot chocolate and typical cakes will be served.

During Cotillion – Sweet Dance Classes, the traditional dances that you will learn include:- the Minuet, the favourite dance at the court of Louis XIV, usually danced by one couple with a series of slipped small steps aimed at drawing the form of 8, an S or Z; the Contraddanza, from the English 'Country Dance' which has two opposite rows, facing each other, and takes some steps from the Minuet; the Polka, evolution of some popular Bohemian dances of the early 19th century, is a fast dance, in pairs; the Waltz, born in Bavarian and Austrian rural areas, won the courts of much of Europe because of its sweet and flowing character; The Farandola, a fun group dance in which participants hold hands and follow the leader with changes of direction, coil and twist.

To take part in Cotillion - Sweets dance lessons a historical costume is required. Before the event, you can choose and rent one of the elegant gowns at the Atelier Tiepolo: as every year, the studio moves to the Hotel Danieli for the duration of the Carnival. No credit or refunds will be given in the case of a NO SHOW (if you don't show up at the meeting point at the time indicated on your voucher).

If you want to attend the event please show a copy of the voucher (electronic and paper copies of the voucher are both accepted).

Reservations will be accepted up to the number of the places available.

Dress code: historical costume (costumes must be the traditional Venetian costumes from the 1600s-1800s).

CANCELLATION POLICY: any cancellations must be notified by 3 January 2018. After this time the tickets are no longer refundable.

In exceptional cases and/or reasons of force majeure that may prevent the tour already purchased to run regularly (i.e. acts of nature, strikes, exceptional closures, serious unexpected events or health problems experienced by the person in charge with the service after which it is really impossible to find a substitute), the tour might be cancelled.The customer will be notified of this as soon as possible and will be asked to choose between postponing the tour on the first date available or get a prompt refund of the price paid for the tour.
