Full description

Holidays at the beach are hands down pleasant and relaxing... but why not leave your sunbed and umbrella for a while and enjoy a fun day exploring the capital of the Veneto region and its countless beauties? With venetoinside.com it has never been so easy! You can easily book online your place on board the comfortable boat that will take you in about 30 minutes from Punta Sabbioni to Venice, a few steps from the magnificent St Mark’s Square. On board you can admire the lagoon from the panoramic upper deck and listen to the interesting explanations of our guide.

But that is not all! To allow you to better plan your trip to Venice, it will be you to decide when to leave and return... it doesn’t get any better! The ferry from Punta Sabbioni to Venice - San Marco leaves every day, the departure times may vary according to the period.

Are you curious to find out what you will see along the navigation? Then read on! The ferry from Punta Sabbioni to Venice will initially coast the 'MOSE', the pharaonic engineering work designed to counteract the phenomenon of high water levels: 78 barriers that, in the event of high tide, are raised to effectively divide the Venice Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea and thus stopping the too-well known floods that often occur.

During the journey that will take you to from Punta Sabbioni to Venice you can also see the LIDO, one of the few lagoon islands with roads and the only one with a small tourist airport. The Lido of Venice is known for its wide beaches but above all for being the location of a very important social event: the Film Festival which, every year, sees stars of international fame walk its red carpet, attracting thousands of visitors from all around the world.

Continuing along the journey, you will see the small ISLAND OF SANT'ANDREA, once a place of celebrations on the day of the Festa della Sensa. The island is known for hosting the homonymous Forte, built in the sixteenth century on behalf of the Venetian government to protect the lagoon against possible enemy fleets. Do you want to know an interesting fact? The Fort of Sant'Andrea also hosted Giacomo Casanova who was imprisoned here in 1743: in fact, in his memoirs there is a detailed description of this beguiling place.

Once you have passed the Island of Sant'Andrea, you will continue sailing from Punta Sabbioni to St Mark’s Square near the GARDENS OF SANT'ELENA, the splendid pinewood that has always characterized the same-name island in the Castello district. Green lung of Venice, the park is very popular among young and old: it has a playground, skating rinks, basketball courts, lawns and benches, it is a sort of mini Central Park... but with the advantage of offering a breathtaking view of the lagoon!

During the last part of sailing from Punta Sabbioni to Venice, you will cross the SAN MARCO BAY, the stretch of sea between the Lido, Giudecca and Canal Grande. This stretch of the lagoon is flanked by the Molo della Piazzetta with the Doge’s Palace, the Columns of St Mark and the St Mark’s Library, Riva degli Schiavoni, the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore and the Punta della Dogana with its famous Palla d'Oro.

The drop off point - which coincides with that of embarkation for the return - is located in Riva degli Schiavoni. Once you get off the ferry, you can start your visit of Venice from Punta Sabbioni and decide with complete freedom on the duration of the excursion and what to see. On a side note, if you are in Venice for the first time, you cannot skip St Mark’s Square, just 10 minutes walk from the drop off point: its Basilica, the Doge's Palace, the Clock Tower and the very tall Bell tower will leave you breathless!

If you have already seen the wonders of the square, we suggest you have a walk around less touristy, much more characteristic areas which will allow you to explore the true soul of Venice. One of these is the sestiere di Castello which houses the Arsenale, the heart of the naval industry at the time of the Serenissima, and the Biennale, home to important contemporary art exhibitions. Walking through the sestiere you can admire the Church of Santa Maria Formosa and the Church of San Francesco della Vigna, or go shopping to visit the craft shops and boutiques located along the lively Via Garibaldi.

Naturally, these are all just suggestions... the nice thing about this excursion is that, by buying the ticket from Punta Sabbioni to Venice online, you can enjoy this trip without any hassle and decide everything by yourselves: when to leave, what to visit and when to return... it doesn’t get any better! We would also like to remind you that the ticket price includes an audio guide for Venice, free to download through a special app (please ask for it at the desk on the pier at the time of presentation of the voucher) and a map of the city: an excellent freebie to better organize your day!

So, are you ready to live an unforgettable experience? Booking is easy: after completing the form and finishing the payment procedure, you will receive an e-mail with our voucher which you must present at the Punta Sabbioni Pontile desk n. 6, where it will be converted into a real ticket. Easy peasy. Now you just have to decide when to leave and return! Here’s a reminder of the timetable:
