Full description

Much more than a guided tour: discover Burano with our guide Silvia is a real journey to learn about the traditions and charm of an extraordinary island, which, in addition to lace making and colorful houses, has much more to tell!

Thanks to our morning Burano tour, lasting about an hour and twenty minutes, you will explore the island in no rush, with a pleasant walk that combines art, history, legends and anecdotes.

An experience suitable for adults and children, which follows itineraries off the beaten path and for this reason is aimed not only at the most discerned tourists, but also those living in the surrounding area who want to get to learn more about the island.

Silvia, your guide

Silvia is at home here: she is a licensed tour guide born and raised in Burano. She will show you the most authentic side of the island, known only by those who experience it every day, beyond the classic picture-postcard places. During the tour she will also give you valuable tips for shopping in local craft shops or for tasting sweet and savory specialties in pastry shops and restaurants.

What you will visit

Burano is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites; you will discover all its highlights, even the least known ones:

  • the House of Umberto Moggioli, an Italian painter who lived between the 19th and 20th centuries and who chose Burano as his living place
  • Ponte degli Assassini
  • Calle Frana
  • Pescheria Vecchia and Pescheria Nuova
  • Campanile Storto
  • The house-museum of Remigio Barbaro, the 'hermit sculptor' from Burano
  • The monument to the 3 Saints
  • The Church of San Martino and Santa Barbara

Silvia will tell you the history and anecdotes of these places, but she will also tell you about the origin of the colorful houses and their difficult upkeep, reveal interesting facts about the dialect, the customs and the life of the Buranelli, the inhabitants of Burano, dwell on the history of lace… and much more!

Getting to Burano

Thanks to the ACTV public transport it is easy to reach Burano by waterbus from Venice or Jesolo:

  • from Venice take line 12 (about 40 minutes) or line 14 (about 75 minutes)
  • from Punta Sabbioni take line 14 (approx. 30 minutes)

Furthermore, the fact that the starting point of the visit is in Burano is a strong point that should not be underestimated: you decide when and how to reach the island and how long to visit it, perhaps taking the time to have lunch in a typical restaurant or visit the Lace Museum!

'Secrets of Burano'

Our vaporetto arrived at Burano 15 minutes after 11 am and true to the written warnings about not being late, the tour had left. Thinking that the four of us could catch up with the tour I asked the closest vendors about it. They did not seem to know what I was talking about. We gave up and wandered around Burano.

Dear Lance,

We are sorry you did not arrive on time and you did not have the change to enjoy the tour, but, as written both in the voucher and in the tour description, that is a collective tour, so this means that the tour guide has to start the tour on time in respect of those who showed up at the meeting point punctually.

Then you could have informed us about your delay, so we could have rescheduled your reservation, we are sorry you did not do that.

Best regards,
The staff

'Thank you'

My daughter and I went on the Secret Corners of Burano Tour and were very pleased. We were visiting in November/December so it was cold out but our tour guide made it easy to ignore that. We were truly impressed by all the information provided and in such a pleasant and fun manner! Definitely worthwhile!
