Full description

As it is well known, Murano is the home of the art of glass blowing... but what not everyone knows is that in Venice - a few steps from splendid St Mark’s Square and behind the famous Bridge of Sighs – away from the main tourist routes, you can find what could be almost defined as a glass museo.

Housed in an ancient historic building, this extraordinary glass factory in Venice (one of the few still operating in the historic center) is equipped with two furnaces - where expert glass masters create wonderful pieces - and has a 4,000 sqm showroom which can be visited only upon reservation.

Taking part in this exclusive tour, you will be able to discover the art of blown glass and witness the creation of a special object by an expert craftsman; in addition, a showroom member of staff will guide you through the interesting exhibition and talk to you about the materials used by the glass masters to make the objects on display. Glass processing in Venice is for young and old alike an amazing spectacle to watch...don't miss this experience exclusively available with!

What you will visit is, in fact, one of the oldest and most important of Venice artistic glass factories: after entering the elegant building, surrounded by its ancient walls, you will feel transported to an atmosphere of bygone times. Initially you will stop at the ground floor, where the furnace is located and where, before your eyes, an expert master glassmaker will make a glass work of art and a showroom guide will explain the various phases of glass processing in Venice, a centuries-old art dating back to the ancient Romans.

The heat, smells and noises you will hear at that moment will make you fully experience the atmosphere of a typical Venice glass factory. You will be struck by the speed at which the craftsman will shape with incredible ability the molten glass and transform it into a beautiful and unique object.

At the end of the demonstration, you will go up to the upper floors where the attendant will take you through the exhibition and show you the materials used to combine the various colors of the glass and the processing technique of this splendid material.

After the explanation, which will last about 20 minutes, you will be able to continue the visit at your leisure. The exhibition develops over the three floors of the building: each room - and there are really many – houses a different type of artifact. They range from classic objects to glass jewels, precious chandeliers and unique works of art of great value: they are all branded Laguna Murano Glass and Vecchia Murano Glass Factory, two exceptional names in the world of glass in Venice.

The staff of the glassworks will be at your disposal should you wish to make some purchases: after having seen how Venetian glass objects are made and admired the skills of the glass masters, we are certain that you will want to go back home with a souvenir!

'A great glass maker'

Seeing the speed with which the glass maker created the objects, left me and my 5-year-old son open-mouthed... he says that when he'll grows up he'll become the greatest master glassmaker in the world!

A good compromise for those, like me, who have little time but wish to see up close the glass processing, something really fascinating!
