Full description

A one-day boat tour to discover Murano, Burano and Torcello departing from Riva degli Schiavoni, a few steps from St Mark’s Square: during this boat tour you will go on a fascinating excursion in the Venice lagoon, visit its three main islands and enjoy an excellent fish-based lunch in a traditional Burano restaurant.

During the boat ride, a comfortable motor boat with a covered cabin, a tour guide will illustrate, in multiple languages, the history and tell you anecdotes on the islands and monuments you will visit.

The first stop is the island of Murano, where you will see a real master glassmaker at work during a demonstration lasting about 15 minutes inside an artisan workshop. If you are not interested in visiting the glass factory, you can explore the island on your own, but remember to let the crew know. The stop lasts about an hour: you will visit the splendid Basilica of Santi Maria and Donato, or the Glass Museum or Palazzo da Mula. Or simply take a stroll around the many shops selling handcrafted glass objects and jewelry.

Next will be Burano, where you will stop for about 2 hours. This island is full of colors and energy, with the houses being reflected on the canals, ladies sitting out in the streets embroidering the typical lace, the comings and goings of tourists, but also children playing in the squares and the never-ending activities of the fishermen. Go and see the leaning bell tower or the house of Bepi Suà, the most colorful on the island. Or visit the amazing Lace Museum.

The fish-based lunch is included in the stop in Burano. We have reserved a table for you at the "Al Raspo de Ua" tavern, a traditional restaurant, which has tables outside but also comfortable air-conditioned rooms inside. The cuisine is simple and tasty according to the Venetian tradition with a first course of pasta with fish sauce or seafood pasticcio and, as a main, fried or grilled fish. And in the end, a nice slide of homemade cake! If you don't like fish or suffer from intolerances, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free choices are available.

The excursion will continue with a visit to Torcello, the cradle of Venetian civilization, where you will spend around an hour. In this green and untamed island, inhabited only by a dozen people, you will see unmissable historical and artistic artworks, such as the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, the ruins of the Baptistery of San Giovanni Evangelista, Attila’s Throne and the fabled Devil's Bridge.

At the end of your visit, you will get back on board and return to Venice where your excursion will come to an end.

'Nice overview of surroundings areas of Venice'

For my wife's birthday, we decided to take a small cruise to the various Venetian islands and surfing the web we found this tour of Burano with seafood lunch included and a quick demonstration of glass art in Murano, the perfect tour for a special day. The organization was pretty good and timely, a pleasant discovery of some islands in the Laguna from a unique point of view. Unmissable after the demonstration in Murano a visit to the connected shop (we made several purchases for our friends) and the view of the inclined bell tower of Burano. Only two flaws easily ameliorable the time for eat, which is not much to enjoy then the island (it would take only 30 minutes more to be perfect) and greater coordination of the languages proposed during the boat trip, sometimes repeated or incorrectly formulated.

The boat trip Quality of the lunch Excellent live demonstration on the creation of glass objects in Murano

'Murano and Burano Fish Meal'

The boat ride to the Islands was comfortable. The glass demo on Murano was fascinating. A bit more free time would have been useful. Burano with its colorful buildings is lovely. Even though the fish lunch was in a lovely cafe and was very tasty, it took all the time allotment on the Island so we had no time to snoop around.

Comfortable, scenic boat ride. Fascinating glass demo. Tasty lunch in a lovely Burano cafe.

Not much time on Murano after the demo. No time to explore Burano after the lunch.
