Three days in search of food and wine in Veneto and the typical dishes of Verona.
This itinerary, unique in its kind because it has been designed with the prestigious consultancy of Slow Food, combines in only three days tasty events with guided tastings in the Slow Food centres of three delightful locations: the Verona area, Lake Garda and the city of Verona. The history and nature of these suggestive places will be combined with tastings of typical dishes from Verona, in the renowned Slow Food Restaurants, and with a guided visit to a famous farm in the Verona area, suggested again by Slow Food. The wine and food tradition of the Verona area mixes typical Mediterranean dishes with the more typical products from the area around Lake Garda.
How could one refuse the unique opportunity to match traditional Veneto food and wine with thenatural beauties of Lake Garda and a visit to Verona?
After your arrival in the hotel, there will be time to relax or go on a suggestive walk beside the enchanting riversides of Lake Garda. Dinner is at the “Ristorante Pace” in Sirmione, suggested by Slow Food, based on typical dishes from the Veneto food and wine tradition and, especially, the wonderful fish of Lake Garda. Beyond the enviable position, on the shores of Lake Garda, and the quality kitchen, the restaurant has an accurate selection of the wines from the Veneto Region. Overnight stay in hotel and morning at your leisure. In the early afternoon, there is a visit to the farm “Ottella” in Peschiera di Garda, with tastings of high quality wines from the Veneto Region, olive oil and grappa liqueur produced in the grounds of Lugana. The “Lugana” wines are famous for their refined flavours that include delicate tones, aromatic intensity and a diffused mineral taste.
Following this visit, you will have time for an enjoyable walk in the centre of Peschiera of Garda before the transfer to Verona. After a short tour around the historical streets of the centre of Verona, you will have the opportunity to buy some typical products, enjoy a characteristic tour of the “Goti” (the traditional taverns of Verona where you can taste a glass of the typical Veneto wine followed by the classical snacks from the wine and food tradition of Verona such as the small lard sandwiches) or pop down to the open air Market in Piazza delle Erbe. The dinner, at the trattoria “Bottega del Vino”, selected by Slow Food, will be dedicated to the dishes of the wine and food tradition of Verona, mainly based on typical meat and cheeses, unique dishes enriched with a prestigious selection of wines from the Veneto region. Afterwards, return to the hotel and overnight stay. The following morning, a buffet breakfast and departure.
