Lio Piccolo by bike is an extraordinary opportunity to discover Cavallino: a bike itinerary around the peninsula of Cavallino, nestled between the sea and the Venice Lagoon. The activity, about four hours long, can be completed by using your own bike or a hired one and following an expert natural and environmental guide.

Fauna, history and nature: indispensable elements in an unforgettable excursion along the Venetian coastline to/from Cavallino Treporti, crossing an incredible variety of landscapes shaped by nature and human activities. A unique opportunity to immerse yourself in one of the most beautiful areas of the Venetian coast, pedalling surrounded by a lush vegetation that will frame an unforgettable day.

Thanks to the convenient departure from Cavallino Treporti, this fun Venice bike tour is the ideal solution for those who want to discover the less well-known and crowded areas of the Adriatic coast. Venice and Jesolo have much more than the usual tourist itineraries to offer their visitors... Just outside the hustle and bustle of the most famous destinations lies a wonderful landscape rich in history, traditions and scenery of rare beauty.

Under the lead of an expert nature guide, who will provide you with information on the history and the peculiarities of the nature of the area you will cross along the tour, you will enjoy a truly unique ride! Visiting the lagoon by bike will allow you to come into contact with the soul of a land where nature has always played a leading role. The area consists of a peninsula, Litorale del Cavallino, which separates the Venetian Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. Land, fresh water and salt water are the three elements that coexist in this territory in a truly unique way.

Cycling around the Venetian Lagoon you will be able to admire the great variety of landscapes that will open before your eyes: lapped by the waters of the Adriatic Sea and of the lagoon, the itinerary will cross breath-taking views... Sand dunes, golden beaches and vegetable patches in addition to the extraordinary lagoon landscape with its canals, sand banks, mudflats and fishing valleys that form the background to Venice’s spectacular skyline.

Our bike tour lasts approx. 4 hours. Departure is scheduled at Cavallino Bike in via delle Batterie at Cà Ballarin in Cavallino Treporti (Venice), where, for those who do not have their own, it is possible to hire a bicycle. Here you will meet your nature guide who will accompany you along the bike tour: the route does not have any particular difficulties and is available every Wednesday in two different time slots (morning or afternoon).

Return to starting point and end of activity

From the small inhabited villages along the coast, we will coast Ca’ Savio beach with its natural dunes and its coastal woods, traverse the network of the vegetable gardens to then cross the bridge over the Pordelio canal and arrive in the village of Treporti. Channels and mudflats will alternate with fields and houses dotted about up to Piazza del Prà: a picturesque courtyard with a farmstead, a barn, stables and chapel. Here, where the lagoon dominates the mainland, the itinerary will wind through the banks of the fishing valleys up to the ancient and isolated village of Lio Piccolo. Once we have arrived at the end of our itinerary you can immerse yourself in an uncontaminated oasis of peace, inhabited by a variety of birds such as the Cavaliere d’Italia which nests among the mudflats and the Flamingos, agile travellers which will glide majestically above your heads.

The activity will be completed by returning to Cavallino Bike, start and end point of the tour.

Sporty, not necessarily technical, clothing with appropriate shoes is required.
