After purchasing the necessary ingredients you will head towards the location of the cooking classes for tourists in Italy, a Venetian palace dating back to the 1400s, to prepare a typical Venetian five-course menu and taste it at the end of the lesson.
The building, of which you can see some images scrolling the photo gallery of the tour, dates from the 15th century and is located in the Dorsoduro district, a short walk from Campo Santa Margherita.
Tastefully decorated by the owner, who loves antiques and interior design, the building offers the ideal setting to relive the glories of the Venice Republic: a large entrance hall, typical of elegant Venetian dwellings of the past, three dining rooms decorated with stucco by soft colours and furnished with antiques, overlooking a picturesque canal and a lovely garden will welcome you for a few hours of tastings and enjoyment!
The luxuries of the past are recalled only in the ambience, as today the building has all the modern comforts, including a fully equipped kitchen where you will learn how to prepare Italian recipes for tourists in Venice without any problems!
THE TEACHERS: Monica and Arianna
Monica has a great passion for cooking and brings over 20 years of experience in teaching while Arianna fell in love with the Venetian and regional specialties thanks to recipes that her grandmother has passed to her since she was a child. In 2014 some of their recipes have been included in the book Venice: Recipes Lost & Found by Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi; Monica has also partnered with Ada Gatti in the preparation of a book dedicated to the Venetian cicchetti.
Arianna and Monica will guide you through the long history of Venetian cuisine and wines from the Veneto region teaching you some simple recipes that can be easily replicated at home. There will be tips and ideas to customize the dishes or to design the perfect menu for a dinner with family and friends!
- You will meet Monica and Arianna at 9am at the Rialto market to buy the ingredients, fresh and in season, needed for the preparation of the typical Venetian menu.
- After you have acquired everything you need, you will walk to the palace (approx 15-20 minutes) to begin the lesson with a small tasting of focaccia, pizza and local wines.
- Preparation of the five-course menu under the careful supervision of Monica and Arianna.
- At the end of the lesson, you can sample the dishes prepared during the course combined with excellent wines.
The lessons have only 10 places available (to be able to give maximum attention to each participant) and are organized for a minimum of 2 people: if you wish to book the course for one participant, you can do so only if there are the already confirmed groups, to which you can be joined. Bear in mind that the course is not private: the number of participants varies from a minimum 2 to a maximum of 10 people on the basis of bookings received.
The cosy atmosphere and genuine Venetian hospitality, found with attention to detail in the presentation of the food and the wine selection will make this unusual cookery course an unforgettable experience.
