A Venice walking tour to discover the most authentic side of the city! A walk through the narrow streets and squares of the historic center in the company of an expert local guide who, in a clear and entertaining way, will tell you about the history of the city, the places you are going to visit but also the most ancient traditions and local craftsmanship. But there is more to it: by taking part in this Venice guided tour, you will enjoy skip-the-line entry to the Doge’s Palace and St Mark’s Basilica, this way avoiding to waste otherwise valuable time. If you're wondering what to see in Venice ... this tour is the answer!
Starting from St Mark’s Square- Riva degli Schiavoni, this exclusive Venice city tour will take you to the Renaissance CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA FORMOSA, which dominates the square of the same name: legend has it that its founder, St. Magnus, had the church erected in the place indicated to him by when the Virgin appeared to him. Rebuilt in the second half of the 15th century, it has a classical style façade and a second façade in Baroque style, as does the bell tower. Inside there are precious paintings by Bellini’s school, a triptych by Vivarini and a splendid polyptych by Palma il Vecchio.
Visiting Venice, Italy, also means discovering the lesser known places and their historical quirky facts: did you know that a few steps from Santa Maria Formosa stood the house of MARCO POLO? That's right and, passing through the Corte del Milion, you will see the commemorative plaque.
The Venice guided tour will then reach the FONDACO DEI TEDESCHI, directly overlooking the Grand Canal: once the headquarters of German merchants, the building recently underwent an incredible operation of renovation of its architecture turning it into a luxury store with an annexed cultural center.
Our 'Venice DeLuxe tour' will continue to one of the iconic places of Venice, the RIALTO BRIDGE. Lined with small shops and craft shops on both sides - which is the reason for its unmistakable architecture - the Rialto bridge is the oldest bridge crossing the Grand Canal. Going up, you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the water and the wonderful buildings lining the canal banks.
Heading towards St Mark’s Square, you will pause to admire the splendid spiral staircase of PALAZZO CONTARINI DEL BOVOLO, an architectural masterpiece that harmoniously combines three styles: Renaissance, Gothic and Byzantine.
Once in PIAZZA SAN MARCO, you will feel awestruck: its wonderful architecture and the monuments overlooking it are truly breath-taking! Also known as the 'Lounge of Europe', the Square showcases the most iconic Venetian buildings such as the Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Basilica, the Bell Tower, Procuratorie, the Correr Museum, Marciana Library and the Clock Tower.
Do you want to know the greatest benefit when participating in this walking tour of Venice? The guided tour of the DOGE’S PALACE and ST MARK’S BASILICA with skip-the-line entry! This way you will avoid the long queues that usually build up at the entrance, making the best of your time to admire these two splendid landmarks of the lagoon capital without feeling rushed. The spectacular halls of the Doge’s Palace and the interiors of St Mark’s Basilica with its splendid mosaics will surely leave you with unforgettable memories!
The last stage of our guided Venice tour de luxe will be a visit to an artistic glass furnace not far from St Mark’s Square: here you will watch a glass-blowing demonstration with an explanation of this ancient and traditional art. In the adjacent showrooms you will admire – and buy if you so wish - splendid handmade blown glass artifacts.
