Additional information:
  • After the confirmation of your booking, you can download a voucher, which will also be sent to you via email. Please remember that you will be requested to show it, either a paper copy or on mobile devices. Make sure you have it with you!

  • Please arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the tour departure time. At the tour departure point you will meet a representative who will check your vouchers and give you information to do the tour.

  • The Procuratoria di San Marco reserves the right to prohibit visits and access to the basilica at any time and without notice for reasons of force majeure (e.g. high water) and/or safety reasons. In cases of extra liturgical ceremonies, exceptional high tides or other special occasions, access to St Mark's Basilica may not be permitted and therefore the tour will not take place.

  • Access to the Basilica is only permitted to visitors with suitable attire (no shorts or vest or tops) and backpacks are not allowed for safety reasons.

  • This is a shared tour: both during the guided tour of the Basilica and on the gondola ride there may be other people. Each gondola can accommodate up to a maximum of 5 people: for bookings of more than 5 people, the group will be divided into two or more gondolas.

  • The tour guide will speak exclusively in the language you chose at the time of booking, without repeating again the same explanations in other languages.

  • In case of bad weather, the tour may be suspended. However, we ask you to present yourself at the boarding point to find out if the tour takes place or learn about any alternative options for the service you purchased.

  • Locate in advance the meeting point on the map to avoid arriving late especially in the event of strikes, demonstrations or bad weather: we cannot guarantee you any refund (in full or in part) if you do not present yourself at the meeting point at the specified time or if you decide to leave the experience before the end. If you need assistance, feel free to contact us at the emergency contacts shown in the reservation voucher.

  • Bear in mind that this is a combination of 2 separate tours: the guided tour is only for St Mark’s Basilica, whilst there are no explanations during the gondola ride. Between the walk and the visit to St Mark’s Basilica there is a break.
  • Due to the particular morphological structure of Venice and the logistic problems resulting from it, some parts of the walk may not be accessible to people in wheelchairs and/or people with physical impairments.

  • The pictures on this page may not exactly represent the itinerary of the gondola ride.

In exceptional cases and/or reasons of force majeure (i.e. acts of nature, strikes, exceptional closures, serious unexpected events or health problems experienced by the person in charge with the service after which it is really impossible to find a substitute) the service you booked might be cancelled. If this should happen, you will be informed as soon as possible and, according to the type of service you booked, you will have the possibility to choose between postponing the service on the first date available or receiving a total refund of the price paid, if the cancellation policy of the service itself allows a refund.

Full description

Two great classics in Venice in a single booking at a very convenient price: with this combined tour you purchase a Gondola ride and a guided tour of St. Mark's Basilica at a lower price than the separate tours! There will be a break between the gondola ride and the visit to the Basilica.

Shared gondola ride

Travelling in a gondola in Venice is an experience to try at least once in a lifetime! On this gondola ride lasting about 30 minutes, you can admire the splendid buildings overlooking the canals from the best perspective: these buildings were in fact built to be gazed at from the water!

You will start from the famous Basilica della Salute, the greatest example of Baroque architecture in Venice, to then enter the smaller canals, where you will see views of rare beauty and scenes of life from bygone times. Finally, you will arrive at the Teatro La Fenice, the most important opera house in Venice, where the premieres of the greatest Italian authors of the 19th century were held, such as Verdi, Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini.

Guided tour of St Mark’s Basilica

At the end of the gondola ride you will transfer to St Mark’s Square for the second part of the tour.

Thanks to the skip-the-line ticket, you enter the Basilica without having to wait to immediately immerse yourself in its magical atmosphere. It is known as the "Golden Basilica" because gold is the predominant color inside: it is one of the highest testimonies of the power achieved in the past by the Serenissima Republic.

The tour guide will tell you everything about the Basilica from its five domes, the facade with detailed bas-reliefs to the sculptures and the splendid mosaics. You will also visit the masterpieces of the San Marco Museum, including the famous St. Mark’s Horses, which originally stood on the top of the facade of the Basilica.

And finally, don't forget to climb to the museum's outdoor terrace, from which you will have a breathtaking view of St. Mark's Square!

'It was OK'

The gondola ride was ok. Disappointed that our gondolier didn't serenade. As for St. Marks, had a difficult time hearing and understanding our guide. Also, it was so crowded, I think for us it diminished the tour. We certainly realize however that our tour guide couldn't control the crowd.

Dear Howard,

thank you for taking time to shate your experience and feedback on your recent tour with us.

Please notice that you booked a gondola ride and St Mark's Basilica tour, which is not the gondola ride serenate tour, this is why the gondolier did not do the serenade.
We regret to hear that you did not appreciate the Basilica tour, but please consider that during the high season period, the St Mark's Basilica is one of the top attractions in Venice, so obviously there are a lot of people each day.

We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to experice other tours organised for smaller groups, such as the "St Mark's Basilica and its treasures tour".

Best regards,
The venetoinside.com staff

'Okay'

I felt like it was a bit expensive. The church itself is free and I would have enjoyed it just as much experiencing it without the guide.

Strengths

Gondola ride was beautiful

Weaknesses

Very short

'2 must do in Venice'

The gondola ride was awesome despite the cold, we were able to see unforgettable views of the Canal Grande and smaller canals. The visit to the Basilica was ok although there was the organ playing and it was difficult to hear the guide for a while, but she told very interesting anecdotes.

'Nice combination'

The gondola was a good experience and as we don't speak Italian it was easier to book it together with another tour. The Basilica was stunning and our guide very good. We are satisfied with the whole experience.

'Wonderful Experience don't miss the opportunity'

We booked the two tours together for an amazing deal. Our gondola ride was just my husband and I so romantic even during the day time. We connected with a tour of about 13 adults for the Basiilica and were not disappointed. The guide spoke English well and skipping the long lines was a real treat.
