'Very disappointed'

Venice Redentore from the first row: private gondola (from Calle Vallaresso)

Although the fireworks themselves were truly amazing, our experience was not. We arrived early but the gondolas arrived late so we missed the beginning of the show & despite the promise of a 90 minute " front row experience" we were on the back row with an obstructed view. The entire gondoIa ride lasted an hour, not 90 minutes as advertised. Due to it being extremely expensive I did complain to the company over a three week period but they arbitrarily dismissed my comments despite photographic proof I provided.

Dear tezzbar,

we have had a long e-mail correspondence with you since the day after you tour and we have done our best to fully explain the legitimacy of our position, also providing you with photographic evidence and written detailed reports by the hostess in charge with the welcome and voucher checking services at the pier as well as by the gondolier in charge with the gondola service that night.

As already said, we deeply regret you were not satisfied with our service, however it turns out to have been offered regularly (as planned and explained on our website) and therefore we cannot grant the refund you requested. Proofs of this are the pictures and the statements by the gondolier and the hostess we have sent to you but also the fact that you have been the only customer to complain about our "Venice Redentore 2015 from the first row: private gondola" tour, out of 15 services sold and 70 passengers involved. In fact, some of the customers also gave gondoliers a tip, which implies they were satisfied with the service. Please also consider that we have been selling the same service for 3 years and have never got any complaint or refund request.

As for the tour duration, please consider that the 90 minutes specified online do include embarking and disembarking times, so we can say that this was respected. By embarking and disembarking times we obvioulsy mean the time spent by our hostess to welcome you, check your vouchers, give you small instructions to do the tour, reply any questions you might have asked her as well as the time spent by the gondolier staff to allocate gondolas to the various parties, let passengers get onboard and take their seats and do the necessary arrangements and operations in the canal in order to depart. However, in order to avoid any misunderstanding in the future, we will add this information - that we took for granted and implicit - next to the tour duration.

As for the order followed by gondoliers in embarking all passengers, it might be that the confusion typical of such a special night in Venice and the presence of many customers at the same time and at the same pier prevented them from respecting the exact arrival time of the parties at the meeting point, however we think that this minor mistake cannot be considered enough to prejudice your whole experience. This might have caused a very little delay in reaching St. Mark's Basin in time for the first minutes of the firework show, however the ridiculous distance which separated your gondola from the fireworks departure point actually did not surely prevent you from enjoying the display in such a magic setting as the Grand Canal, with the famous Salute Church and world-famous Punta della Dogana/Pinault Foundation just in front of you! In fact, it is reasonable to believe that this added further magic to the experience you were living...

The position then taken by all our gondoliers in St. Mark's basin was the best possible one at such a particular night in Venice and in fact all passengers could enjoy a good view of the fireworks in spite of other boats and gondolas in front of them. As you can see, we clearly stated online that the gondola would take you as close as possible to the fireworks by moving among thousands of boats that usually float in St Mark’s basin on such a special occasion as the Redentore night. We can assure that being in St. Mark's Basin, which is the location where all Redentore fireworks are actually shot, can reasonably be considered as a first row privileged experience, in spite of the exact position where your gondola was!

Best regards,
The staff
