Summer is finally here... and what's better than an al-fresco dinner with a rooftop view of Venice? We are betting you are already excited about the idea...so here are a few tips about the event: Hotel Carlton panoramic terrace, traditional buffet, serenade...
But we want to be good to you, so we are going to spill the beans: the Top of the Carlton Sky Lounge, the splendid panoramic terrace in Venice located on the fourth floor of the Hotel Carlton - overlooking the Grand Canal - awaits you every Monday evening with 'Venice Serenade... pizza, pasta and gondoliers', a series of evening events linked to Venetian traditions. The program includes a rich buffet dinner in Venice with traditional Italian dishes (pasta and pizza), a glass of good wine and a live music to entertain you.
A truly must-attend event during which you will enjoy a selection of pizza and pasta dishes accompanied by an excellent glass of wine with an incredible view, to say the least, over Venice. The Hotel Carlton’s panoramic terrace is the perfect location for your dinner: surrounded by gondolas, gondoliers and traditional Italian songs you will dine admiring from the rooftop Venice at sunset, when the twilight colors make the city’s skyline even more beautiful and evocative.
Directly overlooking the Grand Canal, the Hotel Carlton in Venice is only 5 minutes from Santa Lucia railway station and Piazzale Roma bus station. The elegant interior design embellished with period furniture and Murano glass lamps give the room an extra touch of class and elegance.
The highlight of the hotel is the 'Top of the Carlton Sky Lounge', the splendid terrace located on the top floor of the building: a real ‘sitting room in the sky’ that offers guests an extraordinary view of Venice’s skyline full of bell towers, arches and spires.
Let’s spend a few words on the leitmotif of the dinners in Venice on the panoramic terrace of the Carlton Hotel: we are talking about the Gondola, since time immemorial the icon of the city (after St. Mark’s Lion).
The gondolas are built by the so-called ‘axe masters’ inside the ‘squeri’, which are workshops dedicated to this type of work: just think that every single boat requires a year of work!
The typical iron located in the prow-head of the gondola, in addition to balancing the boat, contains the most important symbols of Venice: the six front prongs represent the six Sestieri of the city, the one jutting out backwards symbolizes the Island of Giudecca, the small arch above the six teeth represents the Rialto Bridge while the space below symbolizes St Mark’s Bay.
The large ‘S’ shape of the iron represents the Grand Canal while the upper part is said to be a symbol of the Doge's Hat. But there is more to it! The small metal friezes in-between the six prongs depict the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. Beautiful, don’t you think?
Now that you know everything, all you have to do is book your place at the ‘Venice Serenade...pizza, pasta and gondoliers’ in the wonderful Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal’s Sky Lounge: dinner, music and an extraordinary view of the most magical city in the world!
