Walking through Piazza delle Erbe is like treading the ancient soil of the Roman forum as it now stands where in Roman times was the heart of the political and economic life of the city. With time the Roman buildings have given way to the medieval ones but even today, in the center of this famous square, it is possible to admire one of the most beautiful remains of the Roman period: the ‘Madonna Verona’ placed above a fountain. Will you be able to distinguish the original parts from medieval additions?
Among the Roman finds en plein air we cannot fail to include the famous Verona Arena, one of the symbols of the excellence of Roman architecture as well as the best-preserved ancient amphitheater thanks to the numerous restorations made in the 17th century.
